Spot on. Thanks for this demo. Was going to go for the gaffa tape bodge repair but this looks not too bad an option now to just do a fix. Can't believe these poles snap so easily...brand new tent! Grrrr.
just had a few poles to rethread. So undo so used bag clip(for keeping food fresh) to hold elastic in place, tape elastic to thread & wire and slowly pull through pole.
I wasn't able to pull the knot out with my needle-nose pliers in the beginning. A skinny screwdriver was useful to work the end loose so the pliers would reach.
always used gorrilla tape on repairs had a tent for a few years with a taped pole had no issues with it , I think the bigger tents suffer from snaps due to the wheight and height etc wind and people not guying out enough ,
Please create a video on how to replace an auto tent’s join plastic support rod folding rotary. I broke mine I’ve been searching tutorials and found none.
How do you repair a fibrglass or alloy pole? Because all backpacking tent and mountain tents have different poles than the ones shown in the video. One of my fibrglass poles broke on my trusty banshee tent when my brother fell on it and i didnt know how to repair it. Luckly Go outdoors gave me a £20 gift voucher so i bought a replacement pole.
Hi Dyfan - The process for alloy poles like the one in your Banshee is exactly the same - the only real difference is the elastic is tied off through a hoop at the end of the pole. Hope that helps - Ian
Hi - Sorry I think the part where I talk about that got sped up! If you pull the cord through until the poles are under enough tension to keep them together. Then hold the tension with your knee as you tie another knot - or get someone to hold the tension for you. Hop that helps - Ian
No. That's her trying to be polite. She hates camping and she hates you. You go camping and she can stay at home sleeping with your best friend. Everyone wins.
Don't buy a new bungee untie the knot go get yourself some fishing line for a dollar to string it through the whole thing pulled out the other input or not back in it and call it a day
Generally helpful, but skimmed over trickier aspects. These poles aren't very eco-friendly are they? Fibreglass dust into the environment (and my fingers) and too much waste. More thought needed at the design end.
If you are seriously whining about fiberglass dust being bad for the environment, you really need to man-up. That's just plain pathetic. Good lord you liberals are embarrassing.
