All those curves, level changes and body style lines for you to repair, makes this a great old school body metal work video. Thanks!

Jerry, I alway's look forward to your " NO NONSENCE " videos. Straight to the point with no " CHEZZY " music playing in the background. I also like hearing the little CHUG ALONG craftsman air compressor trying it's best to keep up with the job at hand. You take care MICHAGAN MAN.

Great job Jerry! 👏👏 Watching areas that have been so greatly distorted once again take shape is truly one of the most rewarding experiences of doing our line of work. It definitely takes patience and perseverance but with each step it looks better and better! When people say I wouldn’t even know where to start…I remind them of the wise saying, “You don’t have to see the whole staircase.. just take the first step.”

I loved this video, I could watch this all day. I miss using a frame machine doing collision. Your experience shows, you're very good at it. That would have taken me a lot longer than you, but it was my favorite aspect of auto body, most metal work was. The little body work I do now is all swapping panels. I'm living vicariously through your videos Jerry

I'm happy to hear that Bruce - heavy collision was my favorite too - love the sound of the chains, frame machine, etc. Great thing about it is that you can't break what's already broken 😊 Have a great weekend my friend and thanks for always being around to check out the videos :)

very nice approach, Ofr sure, a firm pull ( or push ) is far better than hammer blows as you have a much better control. many years ago,( more than 40 years ) I had to straighten a Dodge Demon that have been hit on the rear to the point that the bumper tpuched the rear wheel, What I done is that I fabricated a pull dozer that I used to pull the car to its original shape. 4 month later, the car was completed and painted. the job have been done using all the sheetmetal that was originally on the car with the exception of the trunk lid for an evident reason that the replacement one served of template to set back the car body. surprizing, I used about 2 quarts of filler to complete the filling of the remanent inperfections. this have beeen a great experience as I'm not a bodyman by trade.

Is there any special prep for painting aluminum? Is an etching primer needed? Or will a slight scuff to the base metal and a lacquer primer is all that is required? Great channel BTW!!
@LakesideAutobody
@LakesideAutobody 10 дней назад
We used to use lacquer in the 80's and have no issues. Today they recommend using epoxy primer as your base primer because it aheres well - then urethane for blocking and finish sanding before paint :)

@LakesideAutobody
@LakesideAutobody 7 дней назад
It took a day to film this. Typically it would take about 4-6 hours to get it straightened out and ready for filler - if everything goes smoothly that is 🥴

Could you have cut that piece out and weld a new piece in? Great video 😅
@LakesideAutobody
@LakesideAutobody 17 дней назад
Yes - I was going to do that until I called the scrap yard. $400 for that part of the car - it's called a quarter cut. Since they have to sacrifice a whole panel they charge you for a whole quarter :)
@alexhuevera939
@alexhuevera939 13 дней назад
what primer will you use on that? will you finish with base and clear to match the rest of the car?
@LakesideAutobody
@LakesideAutobody 13 дней назад
Yes BC/CC to match - have the paint mixed and using Feather Fill first then regular primer surfacer 😊

Very dangerous without a blanket over that chain
@LakesideAutobody
@LakesideAutobody 16 дней назад
On sheet metal it will tear the metal and basically fall to the ground. Pulling unibody structures it will come back a little harder. Pulling full frame vehicles is where the blankets come in handy 😊
