Very helpful straight forward video. My dryer was making the same noise so I felt pretty confident that it was the tension pulley. Once I got in there I was able to confirm the problem. Cost around $10 for a part from Amazon and took less than 20 minutes to install. Thanks
Well done! You have a lot of patience. I’m going to attempt to do this myself. Thanks for such a detailed video. I’ve looked at other videos but yours is the best.
The temp fix video and this video was such a life saver and money saver. Thank you for making it detailed yet simple. My pulley went bad Sunday, I used the previous video to temp fix it for a few loads. Then today the part came in the mail and I was able to fix it.
Thank you So much for this video... The Amazon link is out of stock but too note of the part number. Called a local shop and they had the part... $25 fix saved me from a major new dryer purchase.
Thank you!! I used your link. My model was a tiny bit different but 98% same. Also, when I WD-40'd my broken part it only lasted about 3 dry cycles. So I quickly replaced the part!! If you have one and are so inclined please post your paypal address and I will send you a $tip!!! I think it would be fair for you to prominently post that somewhere so we can reward you with more than just thumbs up and comments. Thanks again!!
Thank you for the idea! Never really occurred to me to do that. I did change my home page to include a link in the top right hand corner. Thanks again and You're welcome!
Thank you for sharing! My dryer sounds EXACTLY like yours. Your dryer brand looks similar to my dryer brand. I'll laugh my backside off if the part I need to order is the same. Again, awesome video!!!
This video is so helpful & most similar to my dryer setup. Thank you! Proud to say this stay-at-home Momma successfully replaced the dryer pulley. UNFORTUNATELY as I was about to put everything together, I heard a “ting” & the metal stop switch piece that touches the pulley popped right out & doesn’t look to be broken, I must’ve just knocked it out. For the life of me I can’t find info on if I can pop it back in (I’ve tried), or if I have to replace the entire part & how to do that 🫤 Any advice?
I did not need to replace the entire assembly and it was seconds to remove and replace, you just pull off the triangular plastic pin and pull the pulley off and replace (it cost me $16 the appliance repair store had it in stock)...I just fixed my screeching dryer and your video was a help but the nice man at the appliance parts store was also helpful as he told me I only needed the pulley part not the whole assembly and all you have to do is slip the plastic triangle off (it is the pin to hold it in place). I put grease on the shaft as there are no bearings inside the pulley it spins around the shaft I believe the pulley had worn so much that the belt was rubbing. Minutes to pop off grease and pop on. (I hope I used the right grease I found some high heat automotive grease in my shed) PS... CLEAN THE BOTTOM OF YOUR DRYER WHILE YOU HAVE IT OPENED.
I did clean the bottom of the dryer, I just didn't put it in the video. Just thought that cleaning would be automatic and i was trying to keep the video short. I'm glad it helped! 16 dollars compared to hundreds is awesome!
Excellent video. Thank you for this, you have gained a new subscriber! This is exactly the problem with my dryer. So far I just oiled mine like the last video. Can you recommend a good general source for dryer parts or do you need to get them direct from the manufacturers?
@@f1yk1cks63 To make it easier you may have to take the drum off to get to the pulley easier. Once you have the front of the dryer off the come off to rollers mounted on the back of the dryer. Then you can get a better angle on the pulley bolt.
