The cutaways are the best things to see exactly what is needed to know how to fix the issues or replace whatever is needed with plumbing. I appreciate the videos that Rich has with the cutaways of the plumbing stuff.

Thanks for doing this video. You get an immense amount of personal satisfaction when you're able to do a job like this by yourself, especially when you're able to save something that would go into the trash. And save some money at the same time.

What do you do if your faucet doesn’t have a screw in the top, but the screw is in the side, and you’ve already removed the screw, but the handle still won’t come off? That handle-puller tool looks good, but I can’t use it with that center portion in there. Is there a handle puller tool without that center portion? I just need something that’ll pull the handle off without sending any metal straight down through the center (because the center isn’t open on my handle base; the center has chrome metal which curves to receive the end levers of the handles, which insert from the sides). Is it possible to find a handle puller which doesn’t have that center section?

I have a modern (construction: circa 2016) wall mounted faucet handle(s) that have no visible shutoff valves. I guess I have to turn off the house water supply and then remove the valve from inside the wall after removing the handle and cover plate. Advice?

Probably not too many folks have a handle puller in their tool box.

To avoid stripping phillips heads get an impact screwdriver, called an impact driver.

Should the faucet cartridge come out easily? Will I need a wrench? It doesn't come out with the handle.

So if the handle is off and the screw is in and it only stops leaking or going id you push down on the setup which i believe is older since its all metal except a side plastic clamp. Does that mean its the seat or can it still be the washer. As the hot side only stops leaking when you push down on it until it stops leaking.

huh, remember doing this a lot as a kid. In new house have never done, and no faucets have developed a drip after 15 years.

Most drips don't show up on the meter. Even the sensi meter that's supposed to detect leaks. I tested mine with a slow stream and the needle did not move. Even if it did a drip would be around 3000 gallons a year. Roughly 30 bucks. But being that there annoying I guess you want to fix them. And my condo is free water. But there going to raise the association no mater what. Even if all units fixed there leaks.

Modern single handle faucets are another cup of tea & require a cartrige designed for the specific faucet.. Nothing like old technology..!
@tomslick2058
@tomslick2058 Год назад
Yep. Most plumbers would change the whole faucet. Which is not easy especially in a crowded laundry room.

Sheesh. This is the exact seat that’s causing my faucet leak. I can’t seem to find who sells replacement ones though. Every on just has those modern cartridges. Should I just go to a mom and pop shop instead of Home Depot? I can’t even find them on Amazon.

Very helpful video. After I replaced my double handle faucet with new stems and seats, only the cold water faucet is still dripping from the spout. What did I do wrong? (3Z-6H/C Stems for Valley has a rubber seat and spring). Appreciate all your advice.

You are lucky that the cap covering the screw can be taken off so easily.. I have a older version which where the cap is a screw on type to cover the screw under it and I cannot unscrew the cap on one of my taps. There is very little grip to unscrew it and when I got the grip, it only turned a little, and then stuck fast. If I force it more, the whole tap handle turns with it (like turning the tap on and off). So at the moment I am stuck. Is there a simple way I can unscrew the cap? I have pushed a flat head screw driver between the cap and the handler all around the cap to lift the cap up a little so that I can get a better grip. But it still does not budge. What alternatives can I do, apart from calling in a plumber to change the whole tap from the mains inlet pipe to the tap ? Any advise and suggestions greatly appreciated. Please help !! Many thanks in advance.

Where do find the retainer clips?

Except that if the washer seat is stuck as shown in the video, you wouldn't be able to flip the unit upside down to remove it.
@AlexanderNecheff

Just fish it out with a screw driver or a bit of bent wire.

modern faucets are made in china..we dont find parts for them..people pitch the whole faucet every 10 yrs.. the disposable society we live in.. and styles change and thats why we renovate..

Just buy a new faucet! Those seat grinders don`t work worth a shit - they leave the seat too rough and the rubber seal will wear from the abrasion quickly!

Yeah you know most plumbers don't have one. Hopefully finding a washer unlike a cartridge is easy. Replacement of the faucet would be very difficult. I would probably have to pull the washer out to make room.

buy a new unit, not even worth it to keep the old one.
