This video series is run by Steph from idriveaclassic and Kev from idriveaclassic.
Steph is a pen pusher by day and has no mechanical qualifications - simply a desire to learn how to repair old cars and keep them going.
Kev, is the complete opposite, and is a seasoned professional! Kev has been in the motor trade since the 1980s and has owned and run garages for decades and is now retired with a passion for sharing his skills and helping to keep the hobby alive for the next generation.
Together, the pair have embarked on a restoration of an MGC - Kev's dream car he's wanted since he worked in his first job in the 1980s.
All builds are done at home, with period correct tooling (mostly!) and lots of explanations, money saving advice and friendly tips along the way.
PLEASE NOTE: Everything you see is two friends having a great time and sharing their experiences with you at home - make sure you take care if you're working on vehicles at home and follow guidance in professional manuals and wear all the safety equipment going!

Great to see some money saving ideas! I love that the video series is grounded in reality in that it is being done in a domestic garage without an infinite money pot

After watching Kev do his thing I'm starting to think I should forget about lap joints, and just go ahead and butt join all the repairs I need to make. Well done y'all!

If you have a large portion of good metal then use it. It makes sense to save money where you can. Well done Steph on the preparation and paint. Well done Kev on the welding,, once that panel is ground back you will never know that it has been replaced. Progress is positive! 👍👍

The nice thing about the (very expensive) replacement MGB panels is that they come off the factory press tools, because the MGOC bought the tooling from Rover.

Hi Steph & Kev Great channel I like the reviews from Steph but for me personally to see the two of you working on a project is the most satisfying. Its not 'reality TV' or formulaic in any way when you do the workshop days, but most importantly it is really the two of you working together, with no false jeopardy. Fuzz Townsend is no doubt brilliant at creating what he does, but it should be viewed as just another big budget movie production. It is clear that you both have a passion for classic cars and you do a lot to promote the hobby Well Done!

Glad to see the GT coming along so nicely. Your right in covering the rear window as sparks from the grinder are hot enough to stick to the glass and even worse are sparks from there mig welder which can put enough stress on the glass to crack it and scrap the window. I wasn't the welder but I was there when it was done. Looking forward to more restoration videos on the GT and test drives and walk around with you Steff.

In the late '90s I bought an unfinished project MGBGT. Fortunately it already had new rear wings fitted. I did have to get a respray and I changed it from Harvest Gold to JCB yellow.

Great bit of instructional work from the two of you. In the long run a replacement panel would likely have butted up against some rotten metal anyway. Cheers

Yes a parts car is a good call for patch work and parts that can't be had at the store. I have been needing to get a doner car for my Spitfire project just haven't found the right one.

Hiya Steph and Kev, cool video you will get there for any body repair tips. Check out Fitzes fabrication he does a cut n butt he overlaps the repair section, cuts it at 45 degrees, the excess metal falls away, you end up with less grinding and finishing, and a strong joint Makes all his repair sections himself. Not that I'm trying too teach Kev how to suck eggs 😂❤

Rat rods for Africa, Odd autos and Trevs blog many of them have made repair sections by hand and of course machines. 👍

I don't have a garage so couldn't have a classic as living in Glasgow it would be pile a brown dust in a year with the 6 months of road salt and 11 months of rain. I've never understood how they don't produce replacement panels from aluminium, especially bolt on panels then you could genuinely use it as a daily driver.
