How to repair a squarebody dash pad!! Working on "Hotshot" 1981 C30 Chevy Part 7

Well sorry but just watched this and I'm new since The Truck Gathering and I believe u done a real good and I was thinking bout buying a new dash pad for my 86 Chevy and now I think I can do it myself 👍👍👍

Checking out some of the older videos, I just learned over the years that it required a lot more patience than I was willing, I used marine tex and jb weld, fiberglass matting, bondo an other stuff that said instant success. I wasn't because I just did not take the time needed. I never cared for the chevy dashes like fords had steel dashboards that could be sanded and just painted right off. Every rig has its good points and others have theirs. It would really be a conglomeration of rigs to use all good from each one onto a single rig

Thanks for the how-to. I have a Squarebody dash that needs some serious repair and the level of my build I can't justify the cost of a repop or a reupholster job. I'll definitely use the information you've provided to repair my dash.

I used construction adhesive to fill the cracks on a dash once. Made the body fill process a lot faster. Course I have no idea how it looks now haha. Great video

i ended up using perf metal from like a return grille and bondo-ed it in for the speaker grilles. hahaha

I used the jelly once before. Like you said I was younger and after a few hours it peeled right off when I sanded it. Waaay too impatient back then! I bet It works great for a dash. I’ll have to try it next time. I’m usually a beater guy. Never cared what it looked like on the inside until I hit about 30-35 yrs old. Lmfao! Looks good man, awesome job!

Instead of messing with those pins that the bushings always break on anyway just replace the whole hinge. Its worth it
