Hey Buddy, Nice job. That is more difficult & requires more effort than most people actually think for sure! I wanted to mention something about in-consistency of theBed Liner texture that you were trying to get. I believe its the bedliner product you used. I have done project very similar to this and had exact same problems with that bedliner, In fact I have tried aerosol bed liners by multiple different companies and they all are relatively close to each other as far as giving the same uneven inconsistent textured effect. There is another brand available online it is made by "Raptor" . They sell alot of bedliner kits in cans, BUT THEY ALSO sell it in an AEROSOL can. Except the Raptor aerosol will provide a uniform rock hard texture with even sheen throughout. The only negative is 1 can is $20. BUT the product is so much better in alot of ways. Just so you know I have zero connection with that company but I do like to spread the word if a product works well for certain applications. You did a nice job on the dash. TAKE CARE
The plastic cover you used for the speaker vents was tons better than my method of fiberglass resin over that cloth stuff and having to do layer after layer. I used one of those osalating (sp) saws to level off around the defrost vents though, made it easier to sand, but I had many fill levels, both resin and body filler, spraying the liner spray today, but I'm debating on painting after with a flat black. Idk though....seems it would fade fast and if I clear coat it, too shiny?? Guess we'll see. Great video
I don't know the amount of time it took you from start to finish, or what it looked like installed etc, but your dash was way worse then mine and it seems you blazed thru yours where I have been working on mine for some time all little here and there and still am. I went the bondo route and was going to try to wrap in vinyl but after watching your video I might try your way. at the very least I will try your way if the wrap job fails miserably. I agree with you on two points 1- being I don't wish to fork out 400 plus dollars for a new dash and don't want to spend half that for a plastic cap, the other , is all I'm shooting for result wise is a decent looking dash that is good enough for a daily driver, nothing perfect and anything is better then what was there . Good job and thanks for doing your video.
I did this in a few hours if you rly spend your time and make it perfect it will look good as new and way more satisfying than dropping 300 bucks on a new one
Cant hear you😂😂 why do we need to hear him? It's a visual process. Turn on CC if that bothers you so much. Nice job buddy. I'm about to go at my 71 challenger dash. Dobt want to spend 1500.00 and wait a year and a half for a new dash pad.
