It's for sitting, lets say you drive a plow or something where you want to keep your coat on but don't want it scrunched up around your waist or tight around your midsection (if you have a gut)...This lets you open up a little room at the bottom for comfort.
So let me get this straight....the rest of us have to fumble with this STUPID idea because some of you are too FAT to fit your coat????? Just unzip the coat if it is uncomfortable!!!!!
Don't be ignorant. This is also for long coats, especially those past the knees, especially female long coats. If you've ever tried to sit down while wearing something that is essentially a tube, you'd appreciate this type of zipper and the ability to give your legs some room while maintaining warmth up top. Unzipping a coat completely is a ludicrous solution that practically negates the point of wearing a coat. If you don't like two-way separating zippers, you have many options, including buying a coat that doesn't have one.
Right. It's not just about "guts" either. I wear my work coat while on my ATV and snowmobiles to work. To straddle a saddle, a coat that goes below your hips would scrunch up and you don't get the benefit of having a COAT. If I wanted to wear a jacket, I'd wear a jacket. But I like my coats and I like it covering my legs while I'm straddling a saddle.
TOMMY JAY tf are you saying i’m the correct weight for my age and when i’m sitting on my tractor outside i unzip the bottom so it’s not pushing on my gut it’s very uncomfortable when your sitting on a tractor for hours
Thank You, Thank YOU !! You told me how to FIX the zipper. ALSO and maybe most important you showed me how the zipper works to start with. My zipper was not broken I just didn't know how to work it !!
I have a double sliding zipper on an expensive leather coat that broke. Clamping didn't work. I tried soldering, that also didn't work. I decided to forgo using the bottom zip to loosen up the bottom portion of the coat and Hot Glued it . So far so good. I can open and zip without the zip tabs falling off.
You didn't show me how to get the damn zipper apart once it malfunctions. I'm happy for you shared, but I'm not at that stage yet. The sides of the coat are stuck in the zipper pull.
This kind of zipper is a pain! I have a zipper like that on my jacket and the bottom portions are hooked together. The zipper slides up and down and closes and open the jacket, but I don't know how to separate the closure, and I'm unable to wear my jacket open. I have to put my jacket over my head when I put it on until I figure it out or have someone help me with it. Thanks for the sharing this information. It took me a while to find your video. Apparently on RU-vid, there seems to be a strange fascination with people zipping their jackets up and I kept getting those videos.
Got a new EMS insulated coat w double zipper arrangement. Are you saying I can unzip both sliders down so I can slip into my coat OR should I keep scary bottom slider on, just pull over to put on coat? Zip up leaving bottom separated at waist to reduce binding, stretching this thing? It is XXL for bigger, rounder senior. Thanks!
That's not repairing a zipper, that's completely stopping the function of the zipper. As long as you're stopping the zipper from working properly, why don't you save a lot of wasted time and explanation and put the bottom zipper in place and put one drop of crazy glue in the gap. DUH!!
