Also an easier way to get the pads back on the headphones is to carefully pull the lip inside out and then to flip it back the right way around while you hold it in position so the lip should slot itself back in with ease! :)
Dag, mine just broke last night too. 😪 Continuity from the plug to the connection inside the driver is fine and I did the reflow just in case, but I'm getting nothing across the two pads on the dead driver. I guess I'm on the search now. Mine actually says 125B on the back. I hate to get a replacement that's too much newer than the other channel. Strange part is, it died *between* uses. I was using them night before and it was fine. Next night everything's on one side. I guess it popped right when it came on (or when it went off last time).
@@TechscrewDIY - I actually called the manufacturer (Audio Technica) for a change. They were very helpful and cheaper than most of the prices I saw online ($24 USD for the driver and $28 total to Virginia). It showed up in about two days. I'll post back if there's any trouble after installing it. I'm trying to get all that black disintegrating earpad crud off before doing anything. Wish there was a generic replacement cover for the actual headband part (haven't looked yet). Mine is now just raw gray foam. FWIW, the current HD-125E driver is on their list as the replacement for that 125B, so hopefully I won't notice any difference. On a side note- Those things sure have crept up in price over the years. I swear mine were in the eighty dollar range when I got them. -Thanks!
@@TechscrewDIY - Well, I just now got around to getting that new driver in, and everything seems to be working fine. I've even got a lady around the corner sewing me a cover for the headband. I was wrong on the cost, but the total was still $28. The driver itself was actually only 15.50 (12.50 shipping), so still cheaper than most third parties. I'm debating over whether to put anything else in the center of them. I vacuumed all that black crud from the foam in the earpads which left me with nothing but thin black fabric in the middle. I was always mixing heavy on the high end with them anyhow, so maybe that'll help. 🙂 -Take Care
Thank you so much for this great video, very helpful May I ask a question? At minute 1:00, how does the black wire in the right ear connect to the left ear? I saw it go inside the plastic housing.
I head a cord break and with that locking mechanism, the plug from the broken cord is now stuck in there. Any tips on getting it out? I’ve tried using different tools to wedge it out with no luck.
Thanks for this, my right channel stays on for a while then turns off and eventually back on again. Cable continuity seems fine but the driver sometimes gives me a continuous reading of around 400 ohm which makes the continuity beep sound all screechy. There doesn't seem to be a correlation between the screech and the speaker not working. Do you still think it's the driver?
I have a similar issue with my m20x. Instead of one speaker not working, both work but only on certain positions of the cable. If I tilt it slightly, it only works on the left ear, and tilt it another, it works on the right. Does this indicate a cable issue, or a speaker issue?
Do these wires need to be stripped or can they be soldered as is. I see the wires have a color around them blue / red but not sure if it’s a protective coat or conductive… and the wire seems too thin to strip.
Hello. I bought an M50X second hand. First time I heard left side a bit louder ( maybe more bass), but not all time feel it. What can I repair this problem?Do I need replacement the left driver? Or the other driver ? I have more headphones, but I didn't even think there was such a problem .Thanks for help
@@TechscrewDIY I already thought about it too. I tried it with several cables but it can be seen with all of them, although it is not completely clear. Sometimes it seems perfect.
very interesting. I was listening to music and the balance was fine so I didn't hear the left louder. very rarely a little stronger on the left side. maybe my left ear is more sensitive because I'm left-handed.
you can use any speaker drivers with the same size (also from aliexpress beats or bose drivers), but then you need replace both drivers, if you change only one speaker you get disbalanced sound
check one more time with multimeter, it's not possible that the speaker is OK and the wires are OK and the headphones don't work, then the only problem is the sound source. ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-BMOaVI-yhGg.html
Please someone help me the left side works but i have to keep moving the jack around and plugging it in and out for it to work and sometimes the slightest pull on the wire will make the sound from left side stop working again. so idk whats the problem and idk what to even search online to find a fix :(
@@redcastlefan it the problem is with 3.5mm jack, then for x model headphones you can simply buy new cable or repair the jack like in this video: ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-qjdVloJKg9s.html
Audio technica athmx50 only plays from left headphone speaker and the right side loses sound after 10 mins.. I can't belive this everyone is having this problem 😢
I did but they didnt help they just told me to contact my dealer bc i have the thing that makes them fix my headphones if thay got broken in 2 years but my dealer just told me they will call me back but they didnt I meant guarantee
Keep calling the dealer until you get an answer. if they can't help, the easy thing to do is to buy new m30 headphones if you like them of course and keep the old ones as a donor for future problems :)
cool, but I have a slightly different problem. The headphones stopped “vibrating”, and the sub frequency became very quiet and because of this the overall sound became very quiet. According to the standard, the sub is greatly amplified and sounds powerful. But rn it sounds like a whistle in a jar.😭 What do you think is the problem?...
