Carlos - I wouldn't bother trying to take a soldered elbow apart . Put a bucket underneath the elbow . Just cut the elbow at a 45 degree angle . Let all the water drain into the bucket . Then use a slip joint pliers and a torch to remove both pieces of the elbow . Clean the ends with either steel wool or emery cloth and add flux . .
I appreciate! It's essential to do things the right way. By the way, it's awesome to connect with another plumbing enthusiast who enjoys helping people through videos. Keep up the fantastic work on your end too! 🛠️👍😄
Everyone should learn how to solder. Yeah, there are easier ways to make connections nowadays... but it's never too late to learn or practice when in a jamb. (..your Daddy can't hold your hand forever.)👍
Absolutely agree! Learning how to solder is a valuable skill, and you're right, it's never too late to pick it up. It can really come in handy in a pinch! Thanks for the encouragement and the reminder that self-sufficiency is important. 👍😊🔧
Those newer fittings (sharkbites, propress, etc) are nowhere near as good of a connection as solder since they all rely on a rubber o-ring. I would never use them in a customers house personally but I don’t like call backs.
@@DIYPlumbingGuy Better. Better still is simply "propane torch", since they're used for tons of different purposes... and connecting a copper pipe to a copper fitting isn't generally referred to as "soldering" although it's done with soft solder. Calling it a "soldering torch" implies that it's used for electrical / electronic purposes instead of plumbing.
@@timhofstetter5654 Believe me, joining copper to copper with an alloy that melts below 450 degrees Celsius as our demonstrator is doing is called soldering, or soft soldering, to be more precise. What are you saying it should be called?
