How to Repair Window Screen Tabs 

Finally, after having pulled out my third tab in the last four years, I gave up on it after strggleing for about 15 mins. I don't like to give up! Thanks for having the perfect video for me to watch. I think it's the only one on RU-vid that addressed reinstalling screen tabs. Kudos!

Working on the aluminum frame screens on my 1978 camping trailer. I removed patches of oxide, etched w/ phosphoric acid and painted, so ready to install new fiberglass screen. I agree those plastic pull tabs are useless since by the time you need to them, they are brittle and break. My spline channels are only 0.15" deep and all the new tabs I find are too long (3/16" reach are smallest), so would push the screen out. I'm pondering bending my own out of stainless steel shim rolls I have which would at least last. Also, my spline channel width is only 0.1", while the smallest spline at Ace is too thick - 0.14"D and 2 layers of screen must fit in the channel with it. I must reuse the old spline (0.075"D), though it does still looks sound but is grey while my frames are now black (OE was bare). Always a pain when parts are "not avail".

Looks good. I believe the concave side is to get the initial spline in place. Then go back over with the convex side to fully seat in place.
