Hey guys hopefully you liked this video, if you want to see more of them let me know! please go subscribe to my channel and tell me exactly what type of content YOU want to see more of!
I loved you on hyperdrive. I literally watched it like a week ago then happened to find this while looking to repair my rim. Definitely shooting you a follow
I seriously LOVE Fielding's little project videos. I watch his Instagram stories when he's fixing or making stuff. Would love to see more of that from him on this channel! Keep it up, man!
Honestly this is totally worth the time. With the coat of paint, you can barely tell. Im sure its a bit more obvious in person. Still looking good tho!
Great job on the repair man! But when repairing wheels, especially with welding, always make a X bevel on the piece that you weld back and the wheel. So dubble sided V-bevel. This helps strengthen the weel/weld. + never 'spread out' the weld. This effects the heat effected zone in a negative way
iam repairing my forged monoblocks just now and this video helped me to even come up with the idea of doing it! I got just a little chip offs and you repaired huge chunks missing and the wheel all bent so if i didn't do my wheel i go straight to hell! Thanks!!!
Ma’Guy gets MVP for this one! You just saved me so much stress... and money. And I gained hella self confidence because, like the boss I was raised to be, I did this on my own. 🤘🏽 Lol
Heat helps a lot when straigthenig alu wheels. Keeps it from craking and gets softer. Need 60-100celsius (140-200f). Also grinding down the edges of the weld so you get a bevel helps strengten the weld to keep it from craking again(makes the weld wider and make it easyer to not get airpokets in the weld). Hope it is readable im bad at writhing.
I'd recommend looking into "Centramatic wheel balancers" essentially a ring filled with steel shot and oil that mounts between your wheel and hub and keeps your wheels perfectly balanced. They are able to achieve something like 12oz of lead weights equivalent. We use them in our off trucks, no more worrying about a rock popping off a weight, or taking a chunk out of your tire etc throwing off your balance. I can't recommend them enough.
In the UK we have alloy wheel specialist who would repair it properly for you, probably around £60 if you painted it yourself. Would save you butchering a good wheel you like and want to keep. Saying that, you made a pretty good job on that repair and paint 🤠
Great Job Boss keep it up your channel will grew up to millions. Also I want to Share With You My Car. So My Car type Is 2013 Honda Accord EX-L Coupe It is a Automatic Transmission, and it's color is Brown it's been 11 Months with me and it works very well. Because I use to take care of it, also I drive it softly, and carefully. Couple of months I replaced it's wheels, to 2020 wheels. I Love my Car so Much, and I am Proud To have it because it is my first Car.
I would suggest more heat when you’re trying to maneuver the metal to avoid cracking like it did a couple times but great video I’m glad to see a diy on this
I work in a tire shop in port Allen Louisiana . Every time someone comes in I send them to another welder. Now I'm a welder by trade just never welded aluminum. Is it worth themoney money are should I move on please give honest answer
My wheels are discontinued but they still aren't worth more than like $250 in decent condition. Konig Feather's. But i like the way they look and again they are discontinued so is it worth the repair?
Aaron & Fielding, great video. Super insightful. I appreciate any tips I can get that will help me keep the fleet running cheaper. I've purchased entire sets of wheels before due to cracking 1 wheel. I'm very interested in fabrication but dont have the space or equipment to develop these skills currently but working towards it. I could have easily had someone do the welding for me tho & done the prep & finish in the driveway
70$ for a Chevy shitbox oem from eBay, forgot to swap the damn sensor, by god I beat the hell out of that plow truck, thanks to old man jenson for your insanely durable fence
Watching this video has been amazing on so many levels! First after you said your a sucker for 5 spoke concave rims I am 100% the same. I drifted across a street and smacked into the curb. After taking my wheels to the first shop they specialized in wheel and asctetic mods unfortunately they told me the 2 wheels were repairable. I have searched for months trying to find a replacement set which I like as much as these. They are discontinued and I cannot find anything to the exact specs I desire. My question is how fixable is a bent rim and can professionals at perhaps another location with more training in fixing wheels repair the wheels?.... Any help would be greatly appreciated....
Does anyone know any good wheel repair shops in Georgia? I am currently looking around trying to get a set of Voxx wheels repaired because the previous owners abused them so there pretty rough, I just want to give them a fresh look but I need help / suggestions 🙏
drift madness today I’m taking my wheel in for the third time because the guy who did mine apparently hasn’t welded it right. Air keeps coming out , I don’t know how he’s Welding it and it’s a pain in the butt. I might just have to buy one wheel
you should not have to use bead seal to get the bead to seal against the rim usually if its leaking because of corrosion or pits or rust depend on if it's aluminum or steel usually I use a sanding wheel on a 4 inch grinder sand it smooth and shoot it with a little bit of paint and it should seal without bead seal
You did one thing wrong, and it's the most important step. BEVEL the fuck out of those cracks. When you weld aluminum, it does not penetrate nearly as much as on steel. You need to grind an X bevel. If you don't do that, it will crack again.
