Thank you! Thank you! Thank you! Without your help I'd have had to buy a new laptop (or break this one or forget to unplug something). It was idling at 174F (78C or so) with fans maxed out and it crawled up over 200F under stress. I'm not looking forward to replacing thermal paste in another 2 years but the whole reason I bought this specific laptop from Acer is because it's easy to take apart. I did not want to have another Dell incident where I called to have it repaired and they just refused and told me to buy a new one. I was really apprehensive I might break it, but with the step-by-step I had no issues at all. :D Now she's running at about 138-150F under load with practically no fan running (I usually have them going pretty high because I have Heat Throttle PTSD from my old desktop). Overall about 40F or 15C cooler now that the fans are clean and the thermal paste is fresh. The heat pads for the rest of it have suffered immensely, but I can't do much about those yet and I hope those don't go Pop... In any case I have my laptop back! I'm shocked it didn't just break, the Thermal Paste was completely dry. Shame on me for leaving it so long, there's probably some heat damage now, but she runs and should be okay for a while. Plus I have experience for next time. (My last laptop was nearly 10 years old before it died due to overheating. It gamed to the bitter end. RIP my little friend, I tried.)

I followed every step you have done (Cleaned the fans, applied thermal paste and new thermal pads, added RAM and new SSD, Downloaded new Wİndows from USB) all perfect! thank you man for these informing videos. I have one more questıon and i appreciate if you can inform me. - When i add a new SSD to the other empty slot, will the PC recognize it automatically or do i need any extra step? - I noticed that the screws for SSD and screws for the plastic part above the HDD are missing, which size are they exactly?

Thank you for your feedback! If you wish to support the channel, you can like, subscribe, or both! Regarding your questions, about the SSD; YES it is plug and play and the windows will auto recognize it, you may have to activate the drive in the disk management (3sec work). about the screws: those are m.2 screws: amzn.to/3OpUwwA Should you have any further questions or requests in the future, please don't hesitate to ask me.

I have a question. By any chance will dust collect under the motherboard where the RAM is at? And, can i swap the ram position for easier access?

🫠Regarding your question, sure you can swap the ram positions. and dust will collect anywhere , that is why you need to clean it once a year. cheers🍻

You can do it in 30sec. Fix the Blower with a needle and use your vacuumcleaner. thats it. repasting is not necessary
@uFixTek
@uFixTek Год назад
OK, you may want to check your facts about repasting not being necessary. I have been repairing and servicing laptops for over 17 years, so I have extensive experience in this field. Stopping the fan and trying to suck out the built-up dust is not the best method in most cases. The dust is often hard and abundant, and attempting to vacuum it through the fan fins can lead to the fan blades getting stuck and prevent them from spinning. As shown in these pictures ( imgur.com/a/8np3MKr ), this is a typical example of dust buildup that cannot be easily removed by vacuuming alone. While it's true that regularly vacuuming the fan of a new laptop can help prevent dust buildup, it can also damage the fan motor. When the dust travels in the opposite direction, it can push dust into the fan magnet, which can lead to fan failure over time. Therefore, vacuuming alone is not a foolproof solution, especially for older laptops. Regarding the thermal paste, you mentioned that it doesn't need to be replaced, but you couldn't be more wrong. Thermal paste does have an expiration date, and its lifespan depends on various factors such as equipment usage, climate, the computer's cooling system, and the quality of the compound. Typically, thermal paste lasts around five years on your CPU or any other chip. However, this number can vary and range from three to 6 years. If you use your laptop for gaming, rendering, or more than 6 hours daily, it is recommended to repaste once every two years. This helps ensure optimal heat transfer and prevents overheating issues. Your statement is equivalent to me telling you that you don't need to change the oil or service your car. Just like your car's oil, thermal paste degrades over time, and it's a basic principle of chemistry. I hope this clarifies the importance of repasting and the limitations of vacuuming when it comes to removing dust from laptops.
