Great video. I just changed both. Pressure and return. My 07 has no pressure sensor. I read the instructions about half way through. On mine the fitting on the pump is a quick disconnect. Should be able to pry between the nut and the square piece on line and it will pop out. I did it the way you did. My return was rusted through and stuck in the rack. I used a heat gun and finally got it out. 2 lines,5 hours out in the gravel. Getting too old for this chit. Lol
I'm doing the timing job on my 09 f150 so I decided to change out the leaky ps high pressure line while I had easier access. Well, it's STILL a huge pain. I know the dealer wanted big money to replace it. Thanks for the video!
Some tips to make this job a lot lot lot easier from reading the forums is, remove the fan and fan Shroud it will give you an infinite amount more room, and in order to not have to cut an 18mm is to pull the pulley off. This video was helpful not a lot videos or forums on this, I was replacing my power steering pump when I bent the line and had to replace it
Been looking for tips how to take this precious line that ford have designed which is nuts, you gave us hope to do it diy with out using a puller, thanks and godbless
I replaced the return last year. Probably should have done both at the same time. Pressure line is pretty corroded and just started leaking today. Looks more “fun” than the return.
I've had Chevys most of my life this is my second F150 your 100% correct every Fricken job I've had to do including the starter witch I've Done a lot of them Chevy always had 2 bolts then 2 nuts for the wires Ford has 3 bolts holding it on and of coarse the third one on top is a bitch I couldn't get my fat Hand up in their but anyway If your one of those guys that prefers to do his own work buy a Chevy or you'll spend hours doing jobs that used to take minutes to do.
Question: Do you have the specs for the 18mm bolt.( Pump to valve body)..Also the 10mm hold down bolt. (valve body/ 2 lines). For the life of me, I cannot find the exact specs. I dont want to over tighten obviously. Best video yet Thanks! Thanks guys!
@@HomeOwnerRepair .. yeah no big deal I found them I had to replace the whole rack and pinion along with the lines. Lots of fun. Thanks anyways. Good video
"It wasn't super crazy tight." I had the opposite experience. I can't get it to come off so I'm just cutting it off and replacing it while I replace the pump.
so i put a new high pressure line on my 05 about 7 yrs ago its leaking about a quart per year this was such a pain in the ass to change i will just live with the leak
I have a 2003 ford expedition, the line is broken inside of the fitting and the bolt around it is strip so I have no way to take it out, is there any hose strong enough that I can use over the old fitting to make a new line over the old one for the high pressure line, or do you have any suggest what can be done in such horrible situation? Thank you
@@HomeOwnerRepair nah there is no room at all, but I did try a small vise grip it goes in circle, I am going to try and weld another bolt on it and take it from there, if not I'll have to change the whole thing or take out the whole differential and try to cut it off, either way it's a lot of work, but thank God it happened in that kind of weather, not the cold weather which would be hell
What is the line just below that one ? With the 10 mm bolt plate? At the 5 minute mark ?That’s the one that’s leaking on mine. You took out the 10mm bolt but only removed the top line. Forgive my ignorance. I don’t know the names and I’m in a pickle
Couldnt you have cut the lines, pulled the pump. Replace the lines and re installed by fishing the lines back down. This seams more difficult than it needs to be
