My goal with this truck is to keep it going as long as possible and keep it in as good a shape a long as possible. This was my first brand new vehicle almost 6 years ago and she's starting to show her age a bit.
Replacing the back up camera was super simple and for about $100 was well worth it. It is something that you use every single day you drive it was so nice to be able to see better again.

Update after 8 months. Camera is still working great and is nice and clear. I have noticed that from time to time i will get a service rear vision message on the center display when in reverse. I never paid attention to it and it only comes up once in a while but the camera will continue to work. Can't help but think it is a bit of a side effect from using non AC Delco parts.

Another great vid. Two thoughts though. First, one should always use dialectic grease on electric plugs especially in ever changing environments. Next, when you had your access panel off, that would have been a great time to add some white grease to the moving parts of your handle to cut down on friction and corrosion between the metal rods and plastic retainers.

It'd be great if you would do a video installing the powered lock/unlock from newer trucks I've heard it's possible.

Nicely done, Steve! Saved me a bunch of time watching this video! My back up camera lens got cracked when a towing chain broke and cracked the lens. Camera still works, but all I see is SFO fog

They go out after a couple years. '19 Colorado... Easy fix but damm these trucks got some questionable parts like the oil filter.and engine intake cover

Engine cover is definitely a PIA. It’s nice to set a jug of oil on and tools, that’s about it. As for the oil filter housing, I heard the LGX got a revised one that was way harder to get at. Best midsized trucks out there in my opinion but at the end of the day, GM is gonna do GM things lol

There must be a trick to separating the plugs! My truck is from Canada and the plug goes into a socket on the frame with several other plugs. It won’t unplug. What is the purpose of the red part on the plug?

Nicely done. I was looking to replace the backup camera. I would like to keep my 2015 canyon going for a long time. Have you changed out the sway bar bushings and end links? I can find end links but not the bushings. Can you share the information on the end links and bushings? Thanks.

Sway bar end links have not been touched yet, nor has anything in the front end aside from brakes. From what i can tell they aren't making any noise yet. The truck has always been clunky when the rear axle articulates. As i understand it, that is a common occurrence with these. Truck currently sitting with 236,000 km so front end will need a thorough inspection come spring time.

Hey Steve! Love your content. I just have a question about the camera, when reversing, does the guide line move with the car when turning or is it fixed?

Lines move with wheel input to show you where your the truck is going.
