Let us show you haw to replace a clock mechanism. You really have to remove a battery operated quartz movement from your clock case if you want to replace it. It’s just that simple.
There will not be any part numbers that are specific enough on the back of your clock movement to tell us exactly what you have. It’s also a myth that we have a cross-referencing guide we can refer to. It simply does not exist.
So, let’s start his simple process by removing the clock hands. Please work in a clean well lit area. I usually keep a small dish handy for saving small clock parts. If you have a small pair of needle nosed pliers available it might help as well.
If the clock has a second hand, then grab it where it attaches to the hand shaft and pull up.
If that does not work then put the needle nosed pliers under the second hand at the mounting point , or “hub”, and pull up. If you don’t have second hand, then don’t worry about.
Please look at the selection of motor we can offer to you at;
www.clockparts.com/clock-move...
The minute hand is next. It can either be pressed on the minute hand shaft, or held there by a small round nut (show open and closed nuts). If it’s a “press on”, then just pull it off. If there is a small round nut, then hold the minute hand still while turning the small round nut in a counter-clockwise direction until small round nut comes off. Gently pull the minute hand upward to remove.
Almost all hour hands are “press on”, so rock hour hand gently, side to side, while pulling away from the clock movement. Thin needle nosed pliers can also be used under the hour hand at the hub to assist in removing it.
Now that the clock hands have been removed, it’s time to get the movement out of whatever clock case it is in. Most battery operated clock movements are installed by a system called “Center Fixation”.
Some type of nut is threaded onto an exposed threaded metal shaft, or interior threaded shaft, and holds the clock movement in place by tightening the threaded nut. In some cases movements can also be installed with small screws from the back, or a double faced tape can be used as well.
.
I hope this video will make it a lot easier the get the clock hands off of your clock movement, and the movement, or motor, out of your clock case.
Always feel free to give us a call at 888-827-2387 for additional help.

Dear Mr. Brosman, This is an excellent instructional video. Thank you for creating it. Needless to say, you have a professional "broadcast" quality speaking voice. You could easily do voice-over work but I'm glad you've chosen to give us such a thorough set of helpful clock repair videos! Big THANKS!

This could not have been more helpful. I would probably still be trying to unscrew the second hand if I had not seen this video. It didn't cross my mind to pull on it. Excellent video and audio quality too. Thanks so much.

This is probably a strange question but I want to attach clock hands to a round piece of wood that I can move manually. I don’t need the motor. I’m making a baby month sign but can’t figure out how to use the hand without the motor. Hope this makes sense. If you have any tips it would be very much appreciated. Thanks.

I have a clock that the pendulum works but the hands won't move, what parts need to be replaced? The clock is only a little over a year old and was over $100, not happy about that.

This is a good video to remove but there is nothing that tells you how to replace. (Please reference title of video) I assume then you just put a new one in and reverse the process. However where do you get a new one? Who sells them?

Well, I bought a movement from ClockParts and it doesn't work and I can not get a response from the company. Also they repeatedly state "USA made clock motors and hands". The movement they shipped says made in china on the case. I was excited now disappointed.
