Finally! An informative how-to without all the extra b.s. or missing information. Steady and clear image, & carefully and well described process. I just helped a (single mom) friend get this done without a hitch thanks to this video. The cost of repair at a shop or dealership was well outside her budget so this video truly helped a family in need. God bless!

You are a good friend, Sir. I have quite the oil leak and by watching RU-vid videos I was able to change the valve cover gasket, spark plugs and PCV valve. I still have an oil leak. After watching this video, I'm basically feeling kind of screwed. I do not have the means, or the proper tools, to do this job myself. I pray your friend knows and appreciates what you've done for her. 💯🙌

@ddobbins777 10 месяцев назад
@@-_-abk You are not wrong! This is quite the story, so bear with me - you may even be sorry you asked. 😂 I despise going to the dealership because I feel like they take you for all you have, but I decided to take advantage of the fact that I needed my oil changed and that they would have it on a lift and would be very interested in the oil leak. I told the lady up front that I knew it had an oil leak, I just needed them to change the oil and rotate my tires. There was some confusion (gasp! 😱) and when I picked up my car they charged me for a diagnostic fee to find the oil leak. I'll save you the drama from all that only to say I did NOT pay that fee. They narrowed it down to the timing cover gasket and spool valve. You'll love this also, they gave me a total of $4,511.21 worth of repairs that needed to be done to my vehicle. Seven of the items listed were listed as maintenance. Four were listed as repairs and then there was an additional line for a new battery at $221.50 because my battery failed the test. (**Very dramatic eye roll**) Needless to say, I ordered my parts and got right on it! 😂🙌💯

I used this video to replace the clutch on my 2006 Accord. This video is excellent and describes all the steps perfectly. I did the work with the car on jack stands and also used the jack to support the transmission once everything was unbolted. The only major problem I ran into was rusty nuts/studs on the (2) engine mounts that sit on top of the sub frame, had to drill them out. Total time to complete was about 16-18 hours. Thanks for the great video!
@vjmickelson1
@vjmickelson1 9 месяцев назад
I'm probably going to finish in about the same amount of time. Also a 2006 accord. I had a really difficult time getting the transmission back in. I was also doing this with jack stands and just a regular floor jack. To get the transmission back in, I used the floor jack, and a second bottle jack to get it positioned just right. Then I put in two of the bolts and used them to draw the transmission the last 1/4" onto the engine.

Used this video to successfully complete my first solo clutch replacement and I am super duper grateful for you taking the time to make it, share it and walk the viewer through the entire process step by step from beginning to end. Thank you! Every car has its own quirks so had to be flexible with what was actuality possible on my own 2005 accord but your base of information was key to understanding what needed to be done to finish the job correctly. Wise man once said, you can do it right, or you can do it again. With your help, I got it right the first time. Much appreciation. Moving forward.

How long did it take
@FTomTijoem
@FTomTijoem 3 месяца назад
Took me roughly 40 hours Would likely take significantly less if ever had to do it again. Probably. Hopefully. First time through spent a fair amount of time figuring out how to get things done on vehicle. And what tools were needed and acquiring them. Rear main seal wad a pain to remove until realizing it has a metal ring inside of the outer rubber like plastic covering. Once I knew that, came out in 5 min since that info allowed for what could and couldn't be done without damaging anything around it. This video made the entire process possible however. A fantastic baseline from start to finish.

I bought my 2003 Accord EX Coupe in 2020. I started having issues with my clutch almost a year later and it eventually went completely out. I didn't know what to do. Not everyone can afford to put their car in the shop for a clutch replacement. $1400 is just not affordable. So, since I'm slightly mechanically inclined I started looking for videos on how to do it myself. To be entirely honest, the only thing I'd ever changed on a vehicle was the tires, my master cylinder, and my slave cylinder. I hadn't even changed my own oil yet. However I found your video and was able to completely change my clutch BY MYSELF. I have to applaud you and tell you how thankful I am that you created a very thorough video that left me with no question that I was doing it correctly. I have now changed two honda clutches and I'm starting on my 3rd. Thanks so much and keep the videos coming!!!

Just did my 2012 (8th gen, 08-12.) A couple differences, but mostly the same. inner starter bolt can stay, there's another 17mm bellhousing bolt behind the CKP sensor panel by the passenger CV. air snorkel by the radiator needs to come off to get room for the plenum. some of the wiring is different, but common sense. I live in the rust belt so removing the upper ball joint was easier than the lower, still allowed me to get the CVs out. All other differences were minor and common sense (6 bolts on plenum vs 5, one driver side tranny mount vs two, etc.) Thanks for the video. Most online resources illustrate doing it the Honda way (subframe removal) so thank you for taking the time to document this. Also props to your video/narration skill. Very easy to follow p.s. since a lot of people ask in the comments, it took me about 15 hours but I have a mechanical background and all the necessary tools

2009 Honda Accord: On a 2009 Accord. 1) The flywheel bolts are torqued to 90 foot-pounds. 2) There are six fasteners holding the intake manifold on. 3) You need 2 men, and a strong boy, to install the transmission. Doing this by yourself, with a floor jack, requires help from the Almighty. 4) Below the rear motor mount, remove the black crank position sensor cover. You'll see a 17 mm bolt that must be removed. 5) It is very difficult to balance this transmission on a floor jack. Next time I'm going to try my engine hoist (cherry picker). 6) I had to use a breaker bar to loosen the transmission bolts. 7) Remove the battery box (there are bolts on the fender, under the box). You're going to need the room. 8) Don't even think of doing this if you're in a hurry or an amateur. 9) Be advised, the axle nut torque is 242 foot-pounds! 10) Once you remove the rear main seal you can use it as a guide by placeing it on top of your new seal then hammer it in place.

Brian, very informative. What was the brand and type of the red grease used in the rear main seal?

Video is a work of art. Thank you! I'm thinking of doing this job on mine. Seems like a good time to swap out some other buried components. Any suggestions on what to replace vs what to leave alone? (Example: why not go ahead and toss a new starter in?) Also, should I look into a replacement hose/gasket kit or try to reuse originals? I've got an '03 with 270k miles.

I just did this to my 2006 accord. Worked perfectly. Just a quick question. How can you tell if the throw out bearing is being engaged/disengaged fully by the clutch?

When I googled this it brought up a clip, let’s call him billy bob. (Stereotype meant) Billy bobs clip was 4 mins for this whole job. I specifically heard him say we greased it all up so it will change gears easier(I agreed with your method leave it as it is), then he said something else country as hell and I was out. Thank god I found your video. Awesome job I can tell it’s going to take me a week myself .😂😂😂

Bought the seal removal tool that you used and the tabs broke off the fingers first try. I removed the seal ghetto style by first drilling through the metal portion of the seal using a 3/32 bit, then running a #8 sheet metal screw into the seal. I then grabbed screw with a pair of vice grips and use a large screw driver to pry it up while pulling on it.

For bolt in 8:22 fyi. It was so tight I couldn't get it loose no matter what I tried. Thing that finally worked was getting a swivel 1/2 inch extensions and my m18 milwaukee going through the bottom of the car and just going to town on it. That was the most difficult part for me. Also I decided to remove radiator giving me better access to starter

Would you think the main seal on the pulley side would be the same? I have a leak starting and it appears to be right between the main pulley & oil pan. Thank you!

Hey man! Was just wondering if you have any tips on separating the transmission from the engine. I removed every bolt needed but it just won’t budge, even with pry bars.
