25th December 2023 - Using your video now, to let me print out some miniatures I got for Christmas. Your video still useful 2 years later. Thankyou for your efforts.
I use this video as a reference EVERYTIME I replace my fep. I tend to get ahead of myself when working on stuff, so it really helps me to go through step by step each time.
Thank you for making this video! Watching it for second time while putting in a new FEP….was freaked out about doing this but your video gave me confidence❤
Hi, I just changed my FEP for the first time according to your tutorial (except I used two stacked 7 x 7 x 0.5 cm pieces of packing PE foam) and it worked flawlessly, no issues whatsoever, thanks for the great tutorial, especially the pointers about the echoey voice effect at the end - this is just what I got and how i was sure that I did it right 😁 no leaks, perfect adhesion, awesome!
It was a little bit scared by doing this but your video and explanation makes this task as easy as just unscrew and screw again!!! Just a tip. When screwing back the second set of screws, i found it easier to pinch the first hole with the tip of a pencil instead of the screw itself. That way the frame stays in it's position and allow you to screw all others making pressure. Thanks a lot...
You are very welcome. About that tip. I never pinch a hole in my fep for screws ever again lol. One time i did that and my hand slipt, so i had to replace a brand New fep....never doing that again hahahahah
Thank you for the video, very helpful. New user here, made the mistake of cleaning the tank after I removed the resin and it dry up. Tried scrapping it off but damaged the fep in the process. Found some feb in amazon so will be replacing it once it arrives!
I was intimidated by this whole process and went step by step with your video, and up until the end, I believed I still did it wrong, but it worked out perfect. This was very helpful, thank you very much for taking the time to make this video.
Fantastic tutorial, thank you for making this, the Elegoo ones weren't that helpful at all. Just finished the last screw on the rebuild, I could play music on that FEP it worked so well, will update as to how the test print goes
Good info. Wish I had been able to watch this before I had to replace my film, would have saved me a bit of time. One of the things I started doing going forward is to add a thin layer of PTFE to the print side of the film (ie inside the bottom of the vat) to help keep anything from sticking. Cheers!
One extra beginners tip if you are a total idiot (like me!!!) I hadn't noticed that the two black frames are not identical. So on reassembly, I was trying to add the little screws to the wrong damn frame, and the first one didn't want to go, no matter how much I forced it. Fortunately, I was able to work out the stupid mistake I made. I also has a precision set of screwdriver heads so it let me recover the screw without destroying the allen key. Most people aren't as stupid as I was, so you can ignore this. But just in case someone is... Anyway, thank you so much for the video, no way would I have been able to do this without your instructions. And if I can do it, anyone can...
Your very welcome. And yes u are right. The frames are different. And you are not stuppid, it is just getting use to all of this 3d printing. Happy printing
Never ever ever put your vat flat on your table, you run a very high risk of damaging the FEP and you'll have to do it all over again, always put it on a soft surface.
The sponge is needed to make sure you fep is tight enough. I do not reccomend doing it without the sponge. U can always use something if u dont have a sponge. But make sure u do not put something hard or sharp underneath because then the fep can be damaged.
Really hoping this works. My 3d printer has been weird from the start and on top of that my fep film is horribly scratched up because I didn’t know what I was doing on my first print and CLEANED IT WITH A SPONGE. Read instructions kids. It will save your life. Most of my prints fail horribly so I’m hoping this will work
Is each one of those foam blocks 1cm high, or is the entire stack 1cm high? I am getting ready to change out my FEP for the first time and I really don't want to make a mistake. -Edit- Nevermind, someone else asked the question below as well.
@@figurineslittlepeople thank you for the response. I didn't read far enough below. I realized as I read that you had answered the same question for another person below. I appreciate the response to my question, even though you had to repeat yourself.
@@figurineslittlepeople My printing is going well! I fear I may never get all of the minis I have files for printed, and that's okay. After replacing the FEP I am not getting the weirdness of flat non printed surfaces in the middle of the minis. But it seems that maybe the resin was more to blame than the FEP. Now tha
@@helldog3105 hahahah i know right, to much stl's to print. Same here. At the moment i am printing santa claus as a gift for my mum. About the resin, about 2 months ago i bpught resin that split. Really weird, could not get a good print out of it. Company send me new resin, that went, as i am used too, very well. I love my waterwashable resin.
Ok here goes. I dont see a reason to relevel the system because it doesnt seem like any leveling is affected here; so I have the new FEP installed thanks to this CALMING video and am going to try the first print of 10mm ACW miniatures. just one row first then more. And THIS TIME, I am going to remember to put the damn metal plate in before printing. I doubt elegoo or anyone can do anything about putting a sensor on the system that says to the user "HEY DUMBASS you need to put the steel plate in otherwise I am not going to print.."
Hi, thanks for the video! Maybe a stupid question but your sponges each are 1cm in height? It pretty much looks like it ... so 2 cm in height with two of them stacked? Or ist the camera perspective tricking my eye here?
No other way to do this lol, i wish there was. Maybe when then new printers in the future will arrive the fep changing will be easier lol. But if u did it once you will get better at it....
