Great comprehensive video. Like an idiot, I bought the cheapest possible replacement handle. It was shoddy plastic and so poorly molded that I had to sand part of it away to get it to fit properly. Four or five months later, that also broke, so here I am again.
Hey Tom, thats a good one. I believe i took the door handle to the hardware store and Seen what one fits in the handle. There is plenty of room inside for longer ones or little shorter one if you look when I pan over them installed. You only have to go through the thin metal door and the plastic. 1"1/4 or 1" 1/2 If I get a chance I'll see if I can figure out the exact ones. Thanks for your support.
Good video i`m glad you showed the old handle vs the new one. It had me confused for a minute because of the difference between the 2 all the others on the net had the metal ends but mine had plastic like your oem handle at first it had me going. My replacement from 1-A auto was a all metal version but identical to your oem plastic one. Good video the bolts are the best way to go because the large rivets and rivet gun are a bit pricey as any one who has replaced the window regulator on a ford ranger will find out also.
Good point and taken well. I did not want to use pop rivets, so no clue what size rivets. I just found a bolt that fit in the hole that was left after drilling out. So depends on what size hole you have after drilling it out, could be different than mine. The new handle was still plastic so someday it will break again. The next person will be happy it's a bolt instead of rivets.
Dont worry bout it i figured it out basically in order punch out center pin with a punch and hammer drill out the rivet and remove the handle. To be honest there nothing you can do because the door latch bar that hooks to the handle is set up differently from door to door i did my driver side and passenger side and it was set up different and im sure that if we side by side two trucks same nake and model year im sure no two doors would be the same
@@ryanyvegaify Glad you got it. Thanks for your support and feed back. I just put in a radiator and fixed the oil Needle. I'll be posting videos on them.
