Thanks for going through all the steps. Some steps seem so obvious but in the middle of an unfamiliar project is an unfortunate time to discover that I missed something. I always have trouble even changing the bulbs. How to remove the cover for the ballast is helping me. I am otherwise afraid of breaking something, by using too much force if i don't know how it is supposed to release. In fact, with a bathroom fixture I did break the clips that hold the cover in place, because I thought it was removeable instead of "swing open". And I appreciate SO much, that you are demonstrating replacing the old magnetic ballast, (which is what I believe I have) I appreciate that you are showing me the labeling on the old and the new ballasts so I can be more confident when I am shopping for the new ballast. I have avoided this do-it--yourself project for years but feel better prepared to tackle it. Your video is the best I've seen!

Great video of the red blue black and white connections. But never mentioned the yellow connection. Did you cut them in splice them together? Your video does not show this. Thank you

Excellent presentation. My old ballast looks just like yours except different brand. However, where the frame in the presentation has slots to hook the longer, newer ballast, mine does not! How should I hang the newer ballast?

Thank you very much for uploading this video. This is very helpful. How do you know it's a ballast issue? I tried testing with a voltage tester and the ballast still has electricity running through it, so does that mean it's not a ballast issue?

When you wired your tombstone connectors with the yellow wires, how did you wire them? Was it like this: Tombstone connector for lamp one: Wire hole 1: yellow Wire hole 2: white wire 1 Wire hole 3: yellow Wire hole 4: white wire 2 Tombstone connector for lamp 2: Wire hole 1: no wire Wire hole 2: white wire 2 Wire hole 3: no wire Wire hole 4: white wire 1 I am trying to troubleshoot a rapid ballast replacement for 2 lamps. When I switch it on it flashes once and shuts off/does not turn on.

Do the electronic ballasts work better in cold temperatures, like a garage in winter?
@ESRepair
@ESRepair 6 лет назад
Yes, they do work better in cold temperatures than the old magnetic ballast.

Why did you have to cut the wires with wire nuts on there? I changed many with light switch off and one wire at a time.
@justwatermoving
@justwatermoving Год назад
He didn't have to, unless that light didn't have the option to remove the wires in the end clips. Most you can work the wires out of the end clips, and then simply insert the new ballast wires into them. I would argue that it's safer to have direct connections, as the splice could come loose - but it works.

where did the yellow wires connect too....i cant see where they go because the video was more to the left side.

It did, at the 9:22 mark. Although, it showed 30W instead of 34W.

@@cliffkelley963 30W? 34W? I think we watched different videos :) I appreciate that the guy Says up to 40W, but the ballast doesn’t show it- not His fault, but he states “up to 40W”, the new ballast does not show that, it only shows “120v”. 🙏🏽 In big font, the product *should* show, “Up to 40W”. (Or whatever correct limit) Oh well, minor mistake, no biggie 😌

Good video, I’m an apprentice electrician so my question is why did you use 4 wire nuts for your reds and blues? Couldn’t you have just tied your reds with one wire nut and your blues with one wire nut? So instead of using 4 you’d be using 2

This video could have been made in 5 minutes. Also, the wires at each end of the lamp holder are able to pull out eliminating the need to cut every wire.
