Even though the manual shows it clearly, here's a video showing how to replace the stop light (P21/5W) on a Citroën C5 X7 Tourer

Thank you for making this video. The manual is a complete red herring but it's easy when you know how!

Actualy it's a VERY good thing you made this video, because without knowing it, you shed some light on another issue those new cars have: the stupid connectors that can't handle too much current, and burn off the ground pin. It happened to me twice in two different friend's cars, one Peugeot, one Mercedes. The ground wire was totally toast, it had melted it's plastic housing and it wasn't making contact at all, or making poor contact. I don't know why, but these connectors for some reason get realy hot, and melt the plastic around them, and the pin that gets the hottest is the ground pin. THAT'S why the electrician did this nice little trick of soldering a separate wire directly on the ground circuit of the light, so that all that current will have an easy way to return to the battery, and won't burn off the ground pin on the connector. Maybe the previous owner had the same issue, and the plastic was so badly burned, that the tech guy couldn't save it, so he substituted the pin with a direct connection. On the other hand, maybe the electrician was too lazy to take out the pin from the burned connector, and he just cut the wire and spliced it with a new piece, which he then soldered on that PCB. Actualy, that is exactly the solution I proposed to one of my friends who had that issue. I managed to take out the pin from it's housing in the connector, (they can be opened btw) and scrape off the burned plastic as much as I could, and put it back in. And of course it worked fine afterwards. But then I told him to monitor how it works, and if he has any issue with the lights again, I'll solder a wire directly on that PCB, to allow the current to move properly. Exactly like yours. Only difference.....I'd put a space connector, so that it's easier to disconnect things. So now you know: at some point in the past, there was an issue with the ground on your tail light. Might wanna check the other side too. 😊😊😊 One more thing: Since the Tourer has another tail light on the door, I thought of "lightening" the load on that connector, by simply removing the pin for the outer tail light. This way, when you turn on the headlights, only the door lights turns on, which is ... ahmmmm....."not e-legal".....and not the side lights on the outer cluster, and when you step on the brake, the stop lights turn on properly. In my case, I altered the lower reflectors on the bumper to work as side lights AND as rear DRLs, so there's not much need for the outer side lights. I may do a small video to show you what I mean. Cheers.

Hello! good to hear from you. The other side has also been patched up as well. I would say it's an age-old problem, because on my wife's AX, the passenger side stop light doesn't work because it always heats up beyond belief. Do you think this could be solution for that? Thanks for the comment, once again!

@@comcarclub .....I'm positive. As I saw in the video, that patch is directly on the ground circuit, and there is litteraly NO other reason to patch a wire there. That wire is either an auxiliary ground wire, to work side by side with the normal ground wire on the connector, or the only ground wire existing, due to burned out pins in the connectors. If you have the same issue on another car, you can safely solder a wire on the ground circuit, and have it work together with the normal ground wire, and lighten up the load on the connector pin. But hey, I haven't done it before, so be carefull, I can't guarantee anything. I'm positive it'll work, but I haven't done it (yet...). It won't be any major alteration to the wiring of the car, just a wire from the original connector wire to the ground pcb. Just to help out things. Preferably with some kind of connector to be able to remove it. (Oh you just wait, I got a litlle surprise for ya...)
