why would you just skip over the most important part. everything is easy after you pop it off but popping the cover off is the riskiest step!

I know. That is the hard part of any of this stuff: finding the damn set screw. Please redo this or post another video showing exactly where/how to get the handle off.

Useless.... did not show the trickiest park which is the allen removing the screw
@davidpatterson5728

lot of good information below. After struggling like others with removing the handle, this is what I found. Thanks to all who said the allen wrench is 2.5 mm I could not find the right one. As some comments suggest, the screw is straight in. Well mine sure wasn't! Once I had the 2.5 mm and trying for quite some time, I got it. Like some others it dropped into the handle. Like others have said, block the drain. This is the hardest most frustrating part of the entire process. Once I had it out I looked why I had so much trouble trying to take the screw out. When you turn the handle to the on position, (water off) the screw is NOT straight in! It is to the right of center, about the 3:00 position. That puts the end of the allen wrench close to the 9:00 position, or to the left. Okay, you've done what was needed and now it's time to put the handle back on. Screw the screw into the slot and leave the allen wrench in the screw!! Slide handle over the square plastic piece and with wrench still into the screw snug the screw! Maybe this will help someone else.

This was helpful. It took me a minute to visualize what you were saying. In my case with the faucet on, turned all the way to the hot side: I was able to find the screw. You are right it is not "straight in" it is offset slightly to the right as you look at the hole in the handle.

If your leak is caused by the handle drooping back down to the open position, and you don't want to wait for a replacement, you can try taking the valve apart, and cleaning the grease that builds up between the two sliding ceramic pieces. That should increase the friction in the valve/handle. You could also try trimming some of the plastic inside the valve that stops the handle, that way you can move it a little past the off position, to really close the gap.

I have this issue. I purchased/installed this sink about 20 months ago. Opened up my faucet handle and the innards look brand new. No obvious signs of use, leaks, or grease where it shouldn’t be. Set screw is about as tight as I can make it without destroying my 2.5mm Allen wrench. The faucet is still dropping to the open position. Is there a way to directly increase friction? I’m at a loss here.

Great video!! I have the same faucet, was opening and turning hard. Took valve out and lubed it with Castle Endura, works better than new! Literally a 10 minute fix. Oh and leave the set screw in....just loosen it enough to slide the handle off the valve stem. Leave your metric 2.5mm Allen key in the screw when you go back together.

I had pain in the ass taking off at 2:00 Finally used mirror and located the allen screw. I got the screw out and ended up breaking off the cartridge connector in half because it plastic was seized on to the handle side. I ended up using drill bit depending on the hole size small to large. Finally was able to separate the handle from the cover. Removed excessive plastic left over on the cover and handle. Reinstalled it with ease. Handle moves so smoothly now. Nice video.

The tiny set screw is straight vertical once you insert the 2.5 mm Allen. It’s a ways in. It won’t be very tight, since it seats on plastic square. The overall length of the set screw is about .200. When I took mine out, I didn’t even know I was turning it until I heard a clink when it fell inside the handle. Be sure to block your sink drain because it’s a tiny screw. When it’s off, you’ll be able to slide the handle off the plastic shaft. Kinda snug but it will slide directly to the right. Then look inside the handle to see the screw hole.

this guy's installation has a similar problem to some others I have seen. the faucet is too close to the back splash so that the handle can never go all the way to the full hot position. I cant imagine how anyone could use it like that. it also makes this repair more difficult.
@jalapeno4797
@jalapeno4797 4 года назад
Mine was that way too. Ridiculous! I had the installer come back out and rotate the faucet clockwise just a bit, so the handle is far enough away from the back splash as not to hit it. It's unnoticeable that it's a bit rotated.

Good job and good info from the comments under mine. Leave the small screw in, clean the old one before buying a new one. We heard water going into our drain. It was the cold water. So after trying to do this without the RU-vid video I got stuck on getting the stainless steel collar off and this video helped me understand that part. BUT mine is different. I could not get the second sleeve off. There was no place to hammer a screwdriver. Mine is made out of Aluminum, not brass or stainless steel. I tried a grip pliers and hammered it and put some oil to open the threads but nothing worked. I'm going to have to buy a new faucet. These are cheap faucets compared to Delta or Kohler or Moen. So I think you get what you pay for is hitting me in the wallet right now.

I just received a replacement valve for my faucet. To my surprise the valve inside my faucet is nothing like the one shown. What a big disappointment, plus the way it is installed is totally different. The collar also was cross threaded so it was impossible to remove without damaging. The valve is held in by three standard screws. It also broke upon removal so I am sitting here with the wrong valve and the old one is broke. What a pain in the butt. I did call Glacier Bay (which just sends you to a Home Depot call center) Took forever to get thru but I will say the employee (Grace) was very nice and is supposedly expediting the correct valve and collar for this unit. I guess we will have no kitchen sink for three of four days.

I have the same model. Does low pressure also a cause of bad cartilage ? I clean the mesh and the aireator and still low pressure.

Hi, thanks for the video. Do you know how to remove a flow restrictor from the pull out faucet?

Thank you for this great video. I had a problem with very low hot water flow. I took the cartridge out and found big grains of sand. I just cleaned it all out and my faucet is now 100% again.

Two comments. First, would it not have been prudent to cover the drain openings? Second, the inner nut has flats on it. The appropriate tool would be a crescent wrench. not channel locks. It is a poor workman who uses the wrong tool.

whatever works! and just FYI, the newer version of this model only has one brass nut that has flats on it and I used channel locks also even though I had a crescent wrench out for this job anyway. the channel locks have longer edges that line up nicely with the flat spots on the nut. as long as you are careful the teeth wont do any damage. all the parts and pieces of this faucet are finger tight or slightly more so you dont really have to put any significant pressure on anything.
