I watched several RU-vid videos about how to do this. This one is by far the best! Very thorough yet east to understand.I think your tips about misting the gasket with water and fitting and cementing it with the door off laying flat are great! Made my gasket replacement on my old Regency small stove go very well. Thanks!
I have watched well over a dozen RU-vid videos on this subject. With the exception of not mentioning it would be a good idea to shut the freshly glued door onto news paper so to keep glue off of the door frame. This woman by far has the best instruction video on this subject. 2 thumbs up Ashley Winters...
Ashley, this is one of the best RU-vid videos I have ever seen! Today is gasket changing day. I have no need to look any further for instruction. You nailed it kid! Very much appreciated. Nice job.
THANK YOU! THANK YOU! My husband works out of town for 20 days at a time and last night the rope gasket literally fell off! Fortunately stove had burned out while I was out Christmas shopping and I didn't have a fire roaring....not sure what I would have done then! ANYWAYS.....your video helped me immensely and I could do the replacement all by myself and looked very smart in my husbands eyes! Lol Thanks again!
Thanks Ashley for a nice neat no-fuss video. I noticed my logs were burning a bit fast the last couple of days so checked and the stove rope needs replacing. I've not done that before and the stove is 5 years old! So your tips will be useful.
great video; unlike the other one I watched first did not suggest taking the door off the hinge -- since my just lifts right off, it makes the job SO MUCH EASIER than trying to do it while the door is vertical. Thanks.
Thank you so much! I burned some shoes which melted & pulled the gasket off. Your demonstration was great. Used a long bent deck screw as part of the arsenal of tools. Thx again.
Thank you. The instructions on the cement says to fire up the stove to set the cement. Is this necessary cause I was going to replace the gasket now and its summer.
Thanks, Ashley. This husband did not leave town but he is very inept!!! It's minus eighteen right now in Northern Ontario. My stove is nine years old (Regency) and the seal has never been replaced. It's completely flat. When the door is closed and latched shut, I can see the fire if I look between the seal and the stove. The stove never gets out of control, but I think it's high time I change it!! Thank you for your simple video. Usually, when you're putting on a bonding material, you want it dry. Why moist here?? When I use my wood stove all winter long up here, how often should I be changing my seal??
IAM FROM AUSTRALIA I HAVE A AUSSIE MADE COMBUSTION WOOD HEATER THE ROPE I REPLACE IS TIGHT IN THE C CHANNEL DOES NOT NEED GASKET HEAT PROOF GLUE TO HOLD IN PLACE IT HOLDS ITS SELF MAKES IT EASYER TO REPLACE NO GLUE TO SCRAPE OFF GOOD VID THO SOME WOOD HEATERS REQUIRE GLUE AS ITS A LOOSER FIT ROPE
