Thank you for making this video tutorial on the correct, more professionally finished way to replace a zipper on a jacket! Very helpful to see someone else do it first!🙂

Thank you so much for this tutorial! I didn't want to just hack my way through replacing the zipper on an expensive coat. I finally finished the replacement and I am pretty pleased with the results. Thanks Anastasia!

Great video! Thank you so much for taking the time to make this tutorial. I’m new to sewing on a machine so this will be very helpful. Question, do you have a video on how to add a zipper into a pocket that didn’t have a zipper? Fingers crossed…😎

You're the Wayne Gretzky of sewing- you make it look so easy- I'm working on my insulated coveralls and am searching for a heavy duty zipper to replace the cheap garbage one that came with them. Would you be so kind as to recommend a suitable type of zipper that is used for Heavy Duty applications as I never want to do this again- Thanks
@SewAnastasia
@SewAnastasia Год назад
Ha thank you. You probably want a heavy duty zipper . They come in plastic or metal. Just make sure it’s one that does not separate. Try zipperstop.com

Hi Anastasia! I love that you are making videos like this! The jacket I am working on is a quilted down jacket. What is your advice in that situation?? Obviously turning it inside out is not going to work!
@SewAnastasia
@SewAnastasia 2 года назад
Hi, It really depending on how it is made. I have had down jackets that have had separate liners in them and I could flip them. If you can not then I would remove the zipper. Sew that seam shut and finish the edge and then treat it as if it is one layer that way it will deep all the down inside the jacket. Hope that helps. Happy sewing.

@@SewAnastasia What kind of finish would you put on the seam? After the seam is sewn shut would you just top stitch the zipper onto the jacket? If the zipper is sewn on top what kind of stitch would you use to finish the edge of the zipper?

@SewAnastasia

Go through a seam in the arm.

Hai there! How are you? If it is possible could you please do a video on how to replace a ripped pocket from a jacket of any kind? Because I have a jacket with major rips in the pocket and I don't want to throw it away😟 I'm not sure on how to go about fixing it the right way~

Thanks for making this video, Anastasia! I'm fixing my grandson's winter coat- of course starting in July might be cutting it close!!! Very easy to follow your detailed instructions- however I was wondering- you said the tab does not go onto the zipper strip material- is that because you are doing a woman's jacket? Tried this jacket last year before seeing your video sewing on the outside--took longer and not nearly as professional as opening a seam and turning inside out. Also was able to repair some other seams that were coming undone and a pocket, so I feel like a doctor of sewology! We won't know how bad things are until we open him up!!!!

Ok I just have a jacket that the zipper in the front needs to be replaced. I don't need to open the jacket. Once I got the zipper off I just need to know how to put one back in where I took the other one off.
@SewAnastasia
@SewAnastasia Год назад
Use a top stitch and stitch your jacket on the zipper.

Hi. I have a jacket similar to the one you have. I have been trying to unpick the topstitch of the zip. But it is so difficult. Is cutting an opening at the bottom and turning the jacket inside out the only way to get the zip out?
@SewAnastasia
@SewAnastasia 2 года назад
You can take the zipper out by unpicking the outside stitches first too.
@michaelsrowland

@@SewAnastasia do you know in the factory when they are attaching the inner lining to the outer , in what order would they sew? I believe that they would do the bottom hem first followed by the zips and then around the hood. And that it too would be inside out when they stitch . Is that correct?
@SewAnastasia
@SewAnastasia 2 года назад
@@michaelsrowland yes it is inside out when they stitch it all together to the lining. It’s like a pillowcase. Then they flip it right side out & top stitch next to the zipper or any other edges that need it.

Can i sew on a new zipper without pulling the entire flap off ....not trying to ruin my husbands favorite jacket
@SewAnastasia

You need to undo the jacket enough to get it back in there.
