I’m actually doing all the same work on my own ranger it’s a 2001 but all the other specks are the same. I’m real interested in the future videos my truck needs repairs
Is your Ranger 2wd or 4wd? My ABS light comes on when driving. No problems with the speedometer though. I'm wondering if I need to replace that ABS Sensor as you did or do the 2wd Rangers have them on the Spindle of each wheel?
@@backyardbuilthondas1284 Thanks. I replaced my ABS sensor but that wasn't the problem. Found out it was the brake stop light switch I had just put on. It was defective. Swapped it out and problem solved!
Thanks for the quick reply! I ought to give that a shot. Was the switch fully defective, or did it at least give you brake lights again? In my case, I switched the brake light switch cause I had no activity in all three brake lights. After replacing the switch, I had a brakes again but the ABS light came on the same day I replaced it. I was hoping it wasn’t just another coincidence. Thanks!!
Thanks for the video. Straight forward with only one sensor to replace. I have a 1999 manual transmission 2 wheel drive. Have the same issue on ABS light is on. I'll replace that switch this weekend. You mentioned your speedomoter was not accurate, jumping around and getting stuck. Mine is simular, does not register speed intil I'm going 30 MPH or so. I"m not understanding the relatinship with the ABS sensor and the Speedo gauge. Is that where Ford takes the speed readings, not the wheel rotation? Question: did replacing the sensor "fix" you speedo issue too? ...and bro, be safe our there, please put on your seat belt. Want to see more videos, and keep you from injury. Cheers!!
Found this to answer my Q to you. From a parts site: The Speed Sensor(s) measure rotational speed of the transmission shafts. Common failure symptoms include: Erratic Speedometer Behavior Harsh or Improper Shifting Loss of Cruise Control Surging or Hesitation Check Engine Light On
I have a 93 2 wheel drive 4 cylinder ford ranger. My mechanic tells me I need an abs brake valve, because I have no fluid going to back brakes. Its 4 in the morning so I cant call him. Where is this item located on the truck so I can go to pick and pull to get one. I keep getting videos of abs sensors I need abs valve. Am I wrong in thinking sensor is electrical and valve is mechanical?
