I use the VCDS program. I received the program together with the diagnostic tool. All the coding is done in the control units of the car. The battery in this machine has no control units or charge controllers.

@D-Stealth Me (62) and my daughter (35) are doing this work so I'm kind of confused, I understand all the tools, drill,....etc. and "how to" directions to removing/installing battery. You used your laptop, and the program, do I need to get my hands on that machine also? I was told that I would need a "diagnostic machine" also which is like 400 bucks. But I didn't see you use one.
