I spent 30 minutes on google trying to figure out where the arrow should be pointing for the cabin air filter, and its right here in this video's description. Thank you for your help.

I just replaced the air filter in my 2012 Maxima . I found it easier to remove the old filter with a small needle nose plier . The whole process took about fifteen minutes . You saved me sixty bucks doing it myself . Thanks

Thanks for the video. This saved me from trying to open the wrong compartment. The dealership wants .5hrs labor to change it, plus however more the filter is, versus me buying filter locally and replacing it myself.

Thanks for sharing. I just changed mine -- I went further and disconnect the wire cables out of GC to have more room. Very tight space,hardest part was putting the filter cover back on lol

I have 0 experience with cars other than start it and go and I’ve done a few oil changes myself. I removed and “installed” the cabin air filter without taking off the glove compartment. Took about 5 minutes to rip it out (lol) then 10 minutes to fish back into the hole. The air flow arrow on the filter goes toward the rear of the car.

The arrow is there to indicate which side will hold the most dust. In most situations you shouldn't let your cabin filter get so dirty that all of the pleats fill up. For this filter the only big difference is where the pull tab is for when you go to install a new filter. Either way there won't be a substancial difference if you install the filter with the arrow in the wrong direction.

This was a very nice video and explained it well, what a pain in the butt though, its definitely doable but alot of steps, with my Sienna, it took less than 2 mins, no tools required, this was more involved, but still worth it DIY for the cost savings.

I just changed the cabin filter in my 2009 altima coupe. There was no need to remove the glove box. I just removed the right side console cover. (4 clips), then put passenger seat all the way back, put backrest all the way back, then put legs on top of backrest, put head under dash and I was able to access the cabin filter cover. Total job took less than 5 minutes.

Great video. Nice, simple step by step instructions.

I found that you can do this without removing the glove box. At least I could for my 2008. Another tip... It's pretty easy to push the filter in too far and it will drop down inside the housing, and is almost impossible to grab to pull it back out. Turn on the fan and the air will blow it up against the side where the slot is and then you can easily grab it.

Grab the filter from under the passenger side with a pry tool and tweezers . good to go in Leeds than 5minutes, although this video would be the "exact way to do it "

The filter was an after thought by nissan. They didn't want to redesign the hvac system so the crammed a filter housing in.

You may be interested to know that some Altimas have NO Cabin Filter period. I know because I followed the video for my 2010 Altima, removed the glovebox and sure enough, no filter or place to put it. Called the dealer and was told "Yup, some Nissans were built without provision for a cabin air filter". Unfortunately I don't know how to determine whether a car has or has not got a cabin filter without removing the glove compartment, although based on reading people's comments about being able to replace the filter without removing the glove box might be a clue. On my Altima the glove box is flush up against the center console.

I worked successfuly with this Video with Altima 2009. In fact you do not need to do this if you know its exact position. At first I followed another video to directly open the right panel, but I found it difficult to pull it out, only very small tab can be touched. So I followed this video to remove the whole box then I knew exactly where it is. The second time I just open the panel again and pull it out and insert the new one without moving the whole glovebox. It only took 10 minutes for me.

We recommend changing the filter every 1 year or 15k. This may very depending on where you live so you should check your filter at these intervals to see if you need to change it or now.

great video. thank you for saving me $100. however you should include how to remove the wires connecting to the glove box. so you can see better and not have a blocky object in the way. i broke the clip off the filter side panel door because i couldnt see. Work smart, not fast.

You don't need to remove glove compartment just the side panel. Review other videos. I am 68 years old and did it in 5 minutes using other method.

Not all Altimas in these year range have Cabin air filters. I just pulled apart an 08 that did not.

To make sure, did you say that the arrows should be place on the rear of the vehicle.

My filter fell inward when I was trying to get it out. I have no idea where it went and don't know how to get to it now.

I was watching the video and began to think about my gimpy knees and stiff back and began to wonder if changing it is worth the effort. If I don't change it, what's the down side?

Yet another example of how the computer pays for itself many times over with money saved. My Nissan dealer quoted me 139.85 for this job.
