Good video but you should definitely unplug the battery first. One slip or a screw falling onto the circuitry and it could be an expensive repair bill!!

Great guide, every step is shown and with no unnecessary filler. Helped me change my screen and make it work the first time.

Great video - I'm a computer engineer of almost 40 years but it's always important to have a good guide to follow when attempting something new. Every step proceeded exactly as you showed, I found the spring loaded cable guards the trickiest bit, they fell onto the keyboard side of the screen. Once I'd tamed those the replacement screen worked perfectly - top marks for a superb and perfectly clear guide.

This video is just great. I would advise anyone dealing the first time with such an amount of tiny, different sized screws to be organised dismantling the MacBook. The 6 smallest screws on each side of holding the wifi antenna are quiet delicate ... be careful not to over screw them ... writing this comment already with the new working, mounted display on my old MacBook Pro ... Thank you for the video

I'm only repeating what others here have already said. EXCELLENT video! I'm stuck in the Middle East where the closest Apple Store is a 3 hour flight from here. I managed to order the tools and screen and followed the directions from the video to the T. THANK YOU!!! TAKE NOTE as to which tools you'll need. That black plastic wedge was very helpful. But what was even better was the hook on the other end of the tool I was able to pull back the three wires while I screwed down that solo T5. Highly recommend a solid tool kit specific for Apple products!

Super helpful video. Thank you!!! Really clear with all steps covered. Be sure to hook the hinges in place correctly before you start to close them bringing together the base unit and screen. This is the trickiest part.

Nicely done. My "flexgate" MacBook needed a display replacement, and this was a perfect guide. When attaching the new display, I found it helpful to use masking tape to lightly hold the various ribbon cables out of the way. This video helped not only as a general guide, but to ensure placement of parts was correct during reassembly.

Everything went great but then when I open the laptop it pops. The edge of the laptop is getting stuck on the wifi bar. Idk how to fix this I unscrewed and re screwed like 3 times
@Laptopscreen
@Laptopscreen 2 года назад
Check that your hinges are aligned - the top shell is flush with the main body. Otherwise your Wi-Fi antenna bar may not be popped in all the way down. There's a metal bracket underneath the bar that goes into a slot, it may not be sitting right.

Hi. I bought and installed the screen according to these very easy to follow directions. Everything works, but I keep getting a "popping" sound when opening the screen past about 90 degrees. I've taken everything apart and reassembled 2X with the same result. Does anyone know what this issue could be and how to fix it? Thanks
@Laptopscreen
@Laptopscreen Год назад
It could be the tension springs in the hinges getting snagged, you could probably loosen the hinge nut and rotate the tension springs to a position that doesn't snag.

Nice video, thank you for sharing. I've seen videos of the Apple factory where they are cutting out the body by milling, but how do they make the screen lid?
@Laptopscreen
@Laptopscreen 4 года назад
Same way. Its just they polish the outer surface to make it smooth and round. But the inside of the MacBook lid has the signs of milling.
@Deetroiter
@Deetroiter 4 года назад
LaptopScreen.com thank you for the reply. So do you think the lid is milled and a worker the puts the monitor screen inside and then the glass cover? Or, is the lid always on the production line and a machine puts in the monitor and glass?
@Laptopscreen
@Laptopscreen 4 года назад
I don't know exactly, but a worker may only be there to kiss the completed package goodbye as it rolls off the automated conveyor and heads out from the factory. At the very least a matrix replacement job completed by a person is rather obvious when compared to original unrepaired Apple assemblies, so its doubtful that a human touches the LCD assembly before it is attached to the computer.

Sooo great video but you do all this while the battery is in line? Shouldn’t we pull power first? I’m scared to damage such an expensive laptop 👀
@Laptopscreen
@Laptopscreen 2 года назад
Good question. Provided that all dis and re connections are done properly and carefully the procedure can even be done with the laptop on. But its not a bad idea to de-power the laptop, we do it here for a touchbar replacement, it should be similar to this computer: ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-rPW1-fsIVn4.html

Just a headsup, the kit with the screw/torx drivers that you include for this (or can buy for this) doesn't have a T 3.0. It's, unfortunately key to finishing the job.
@Laptopscreen

Sorry to hear that. We do have a multibit set that has it. Its probably best to have a very extensive bit set on hand when dealing with Macs.

TIP: Wait for few minutes after replacing the screen and pressed power button. sometimes the laptop reacts slow and needs some time to turn on. it may play dead and may scare you badly. check trackpad is clicking. but you are in trouble if it's not clicking after pressing power button.

Hi quick question. if I know that just my screen cable is bad because me being the mindless person I am tried to wrap my back plate in vinyl I used an exacto knife to cut around the edge and slice the screen cable can I just replace that instead of the whole screen assembly?

About to do this... Did you not disconnect the battery?? Is there no need to?
@Laptopscreen
@Laptopscreen 2 года назад
It's generally a good idea to disconnect it, you can see how it's done here: ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-rPW1-fsIVn4.html Is there a need to? Think of it as a game of "Operation", if you don't short anything out, unplug and plug everything very carefully and correctly, then as you can see from this video - the device will work. It can even be done with the computer fully turned on. But the problems come when you start fiddling with live connectors or make mistakes like dropping metal tools on live circuits.

Hello, I just replaced my MacBook 1706 with a MacBook 1708 screen, now my Touch Bar doesn't react anymore. Is this normal? Any one a solution? Thanks a lot
@Laptopscreen
@Laptopscreen 2 года назад
Yeah the A1706 and A1708 use the same parts, so your Touch Bar issues aren't likely related to the LCD directly. Recheck all connections maybe?

Ah that's where that reply to a different commenter went, thank for finding it :) In-regards to shipping being the same costs as the tools. Honestly, its one of the other: the real cost of shipping and the real cost of tools or free shipping and double the cost of tools. Shops that provide free shipping pay the real costs of shipping with product margin. We provide real-time distance-based delivery quotes based on the address provided and have warehouses in the USA, Canada, UK and Poland. If you aren't located in one of those countries the item will travel internationally across borders, continents and oceans and the shipping costs will be reflective of that.
