I have the same issue with that nut seized! Thank you so much for doing this. I just took notes and I'm about to change mine. Also, thanks for sharing how to line up the tires the way you did. You are awesome and I'm so glad I found your video.

Great video. You showed us step by step. Spoke slowly. This is something I would not have ever tried to do myself by after this video. I feel like I can do it. I’m subscribing but would love to see u change the transmission fluid and filter. Something I would also like to learn.

I love the way you explained everything in the video, however, one thing I woulda done at least for the nut that is connected to the outer tie rod (or however it’s said) I woulda put some penetrating fluid on the nut. Thatd make getting that nut off a whole lot easier because I went through the same thing when I changed my tie rods. All I did was use a cheater pipe, and a rubber mallet and thankfully I was able to reuse the nut.

The hacksaw method! I love it. I'm gonna use that.

From where did you source the 80 ft. lbs. torque value for the inner tie rod?? My Haynes manual for my 2012 Focus seems to have omitted that info for some reason!

Thank you so much for this superb video brother! 2003 focus here, everything is similiar except perhaps the torque spec for the tightening of it to the rack..I think the 2003 is 60ft lbs ... I always had 2 concerns that are seldom addressed by the car manufacturers themselves..one is we dont have any stake washers for our cars for extra security on the ends of the tierod to rack..I guess we are to rely on proper torque tightening and blue or red loctite... Ive use the red that came with my rods b4 and havent had issues with lloosening, though I have to replace a bad one again and hope the red wont be an issue loosening.. secondly, there is no mention of what type of grease to use on those inner rods..i see urs came with alittle around the ball...im using moog and it came with Nothing..no washer, no grease and no loctite! Curious what type of grease is used? moly black, or lithium type yellow? lastly, there are concerns about tightening these to torque and the pressures on the rack while doing it..im always worried about hurting the rack but i do see many ,like urself tightening it with no support or bracing of the rod..maybe its a nonissue but i wish car designers would have put some flats on the rod so it could be held while torquing... PS: i love that you demonstrated how to do a string alignment, thumbs up for that... How close were you when you had ur done in shop? Ive done some home aligns that were close enough to be in spec on the alignment machine.

Thank you for the great feedback. It is always great to ask questions and use caution with any project. As far as the torque you are correct you do not want to get excessive. 60 ft lbs is about right. I have caused issues on a different car and had to reset the steering angle on account of the inner rod moving some. As far as grease I like to use the red high temp grease or heavy duty grease. The string alignment always get it pretty close to be driveable until an alignment can be done. Sometimes it is close sometimes not so much judging by how much they have to rotate the tie rod. Thank you very much for watching.

Thanks for the video, my friend. Question, are you able to re-use the large clamp that you loosened with the hammer and screwdriver? Or do you have to use a new one?
@s33therfan

If you have the tool they are reusable. I always tighten a ziptie when going back. My biggest problem is the limited space usually available . Great question and thanks for watching.

Thanks for the video. I just ordered that tool and look forward to changing my tie rod. Did you end up having to get an alignment after changing that part?
@s33therfan

Yes . The alignment is critical to preventing any tire wear. Thanks for watching.

Here a couple of options . Both work fine however one is much cheaper and made specifically for smooth inner tie rod. Thank you for watching. amzn.to/3DFy3G9 amzn.to/3uUO8nj
