You don't need to remove the wipers or the plastic cowls. Unclip the lower cowl from the strut brace (Xmas tree clips along the bottom and the 4 on the front), turn the clip 1/4 turn close to the middle near the passenger side wiper (to disengage it), undo/remove the plastic "screws" and clips on the outside most corners. The you can lift the cowl up enough (it will unclip along the top). The you can unbolt the strut brace and remove it from the vehicle. Good video
Wow. I don't even have a need to do this but I was searching for something else, found this. Couldn't stop watching. Why? Watched a lot of DIY auto repair videos. I've never seen one as well produced and written as this. Sublime.
I had to do this job 3 yrs ago because my brother was told that the shop wanted over $900 to do this. He bought the parts and we did this in my garage at home for less than half of that amount. It was a PITA to go through the access points near the wipers but overall, we got it done ourselves and saved about $500
Thank you for the video! My friend and I were able to do this in 3.5 hours. Unlike most projects, we didn't run into any issues. Great guide, thank you!

Hello, thank you so much , it is a perfect demonstration, with lots of details, helping every one. Well done. Question please, how to buy a complete set for front and rear struts . My shipping address to ,Hamilton Ontario Canada. ? Thank you
Can anyone tell me, the housing that goes around the top of the strut on a 2012 dodge journey, is that fully enclosed around the strut, or is it open in the back that leads to the engine? I can't see there on the backside nearest to the cabin if it's open or not.
Hmm, my 09 journey says spindle nut front is 97 foot pounds and rear is 181. I just replaced the front hub and now I’m second guessing the torque spec.
Yes you can it'll just be more time replacing whatever your replacing and you'll have to have it sitting on jack stands or some thing that can be set high enough for you to get to wherever you need it
