Control arms are a crucial part of the suspension system of your vehicle. They not only carry the load of the vehicle to the wheel, but they typically also maintain its alignment. Control arms are typically large and strong, so you may be surprised it needs replacing. They contain rubber bushings for smoother rides at the cost of eventual wear, or integrated ball joints that require replacing the entire arm when they wear. This video shows you how to install a new quality TRQ upper control arm with ball joint in your 2006-2012 Ford Fusion.

Why remove the axle nut and all that? I've done this a few times on the Fusion and there's no reason to do that. It's not going to over extend the CV's. Also, why red thread locker and not blue? Red makes it impossible to remove again without heating it to 500 degrees F.

Axel nut is not necessary. And using red thread lock you must not intend for anyone to ever remove those bolts again.

This video is perfect, thank the Lord I found this because I have to replace the upper control arm and the spindle knuckle, all other videos I found were either too blurry to see what was going on, not clear enough, but this one is detailed even with the torque specs and very easy to follow along. Not to mention its not a long ass video like others so its not a hassle if needed to rewatch. Much appreciated.

Only thing more helpful would be to reference sizes of each socket being used on each nut so a guy knew what sizes needed for sure. I have a smaller sets that don’t have every size so sometimes I have to make a run midway thru the job

66 ft-lb on the top strut mount bolts caused me to snap one of them?? 🤔 6:41

Is necessary to take all of bottom part.. ???? Is not only move of upper arm control nuts. ????

No. You can leave the cv axle nut on and leave the top on to hold while you replace the bottom stuff. After you replace the bottom stuff just bolt it on and undo the top. Don’t need to do it all at once. Its a whole lot work to do it again.

Hello. Your videos are always educational and pleasure to watch. I have a question and if you will have time please answer. On the left side caster of my ford fusion hybrid 2010 has - 0.3 as right side has - 0.5, and as I see, left upper control arms right side rubber part is pressed inside backward, can it be the reason for tire damaging or jerking left side when braking?

Guys i have a question that nobody's given me answers. I have a 2008 2.3L ford fusion fwd with factory 17inch wheels. I see there are different upper control arm options from ford 6e5z3085ba or 7e5z3085L and it's not very clear which one I need, it seems like they differ in regards to fwd/awd or if the wheel is 16 or 17 but I'm not really sure. The one in my car doesn't have a rubber cushion and bolt mounted to the arm like some have. Do you guys know if upper control arms are all the same from 2006 to 2012, and the difference is only that some have a round rubber cushion assemble to the arm (supposedly for awd) , or they can differ in size, caster and other things. Could I also use the 2010's Ae5z3084a arm in my 2008 fusion?

Removed 1 bolt from upper control arm and the other bolt is being stubborn and won't loosen all the way. Any tips for removing the other bolt?

soak it with penetrating fluid every 5 mins all day then let it sit over night then it should pop free

Never use red thread locker unless you hate your alignment guy, I use orange thread locker.

Yeah not sure loosening axel nut or strut tower bolts are necessary. Lot of pointless extra work
