Repair/replace your worn out wheel bearings! I suggest just replacing the whole assembly than replacing just the bearing. But I will make a video on how to change just the bearing (sometime in the future).

I search replacing wheel hub and opened about 6 videos, as soon as I saw you made a video I closed all the other tabs. Keep up the good work.

You really shouldn't keep those rotor retainers on if you have wheel spacers. You want the wheel spacers to be completely flat to the rotor, and that little ring throws it off.

Really good video. I just did both of my front hubs, rotors, pads. Here's what I learned. The speed sensor connectors in the engine bay are awful to get at, and usually only one hand will fit. Nightmare. You need 12 pt socket for hub bolts. Buy new hub bolts. All mine were buggered up. I broke two ratchets trying to get these off. They are a B*TCH. You also need a THIN 15 mm or maybe thin locking pliers to fool with the brake pad holder bolt deal. Furthermore, my hubs came with speedsensors wires that were too short. I made it work, but we'll see how long it last. They should be close to 40".

Brother thank you so much for this video. Been struggling trying to find out how to replace my jeep bearing. Just going to replace my hub assembly instead!

You should remove those rotor retainer clips! They're a factory safety measure and should be discarded. Since you have spacers they won't sit flat which is very dangerous! Anyone with aftermarket wheels should also remove them. I would remove the dust shields too if you do any off-roading. They're mud/rock collectors. Otherwise, it is a great video.

These could very well have contributed to the bearing wear, because they throw your spacer off a little. This means your wheels are off a little. That's a lot of high rpm rotations to be a bit wobbly.

Great video, I can guarantee I have forgot things many more times than you, once on a dual cam Mazda build, what a PIA. Many thanks

Good job, well done. It's good that you show where you made the error, and then corrected it,..backing plate! I'm glad you showed the torque value for those important and key bolt torque settings are important , and especially so when you use those spacers. Those rotor locks aren't going to do you any favors with those two spacersin place, you may very well cause the spacer to sit off from the hub. Not good!

Lol trial by error. The curse of the backyard mechanic. I felt your pain. Sometimes best to grab a beer, regroup And revisit the job later.

Great video. I'll be attempting this in the very near future. I'm never been mechanically inclined but can follow directions and your video helps a lot. My friend is a mechanic and rather than him just doing it for me, I'll have him babysit me as I go through the process to talk me through any issues I encounter. Question: since I'll be having all these components off during this repair, are there other things I might as well take care of at the same time? Things that I might either need to do in the future or just something I can replace with a new component? Thanks!!
@developmentdivision122

Michael Gervais possibly your wheel speed sensors. I’ve had two of mine go bad, and it causes a whole mess with your abs and traction control. Other than that i would say no. Maybe brakes if you need them.

@@developmentdivision122 awesome, I appreciate the reply. For sure the speed sensors... I mostly use my jeep (08 wrangler) as a daily driver... can you recommend a decent brake manufacturer? I don't mind spending a little extra. My jeep isn't flashy or anything... just curious

Jeep recommends that you remove the axle and hub as an assembly. I did not and now have a seal leak.

Great video Chris! Did you have any issue with leaky axle seal with the axle shaft popping out? I’ve fought leaky front axle seals and was thinking the seal might get damaged changing the unit bearing? Maybe I can wedge a pry bar to keep the axle shaft in place ?

What hubs did you buy? The cheaper ones or the more expensive ones?
@developmentdivision122
@developmentdivision122 6 лет назад
J Largaespada i bought the cheap ones. Only problem is that the wheel speed sensor that comes with the cheap ones aren’t the correct length. Which is no problem, you can just reuse the old wheel speed sensor.

Honestly this could be a couple different things, i would set the jeep up on jack stands and then turn the wheel and see if there are any clearance issues.

Next time....while you got the caliper off, clean and re-lube those caliper slide pins! The devil is in the details...Save you from buying a new caliper...when they rust up, the pins freeze up and you break them off.
