I just cut a square out of the bed and changed the pump in 20 minutes

On the 1993 Ford Ranger PU (125" wheelbase), the fuel tank would not simply 'drop straight down'. It would not go back far enough until we removed the bolt out of the rear shackle for the leaf springs, removed the driver side shock at the top mount and unbolted stuff on top of the rear axle. What a crappy design... way to go Ford. Can't even buy a fuel tank for a Ranger. What a world.

What was the purpose in removing the tank ? Did the sending unit/pump assembly get replaced ? Was the tank dirty ? Was this for demonstration purposes only ?

Did you happen to notice (or would you happen to know) if there's a check ball in the filler neck for those trucks? Trying to get the fuel out of the tank of a 98 Ranger that's been sitting around for a couple years to replace it with some known good fuel, trying to figure out the easiest way to do it... if there is a check ball valve, think I could probably just drop the tank enough to remove the filler neck and siphon from there?

You should be able to unscrew the filler from the outside rather than taking the hose off, I think?

I have a 2003 2WD 4.0 and bought a gas tank from a same year 4WD 4.0. The 4X4 has a skid plate and it seems to me that Ford designed this one 1/2 inch shorter in height, therefore my fuel pump does not transfer over. The gasket is also slightly larger. I didn’t want to replace the pump but the gas tank came from 2 states away. What pump do I need?

Helpful video but it might pay to state the obvious. Get most of the gas out before you start so the full tank of gas doesn't fall on you!

Hello there, so I have the issue that when I go to fill up for gas the gas tank spits it back out, any ideas on what could be causing this issue?

If you are trying to do this with just a jack, you really need to jack it up by the frame to get the driveshaft down far enough to be able to get the tank straps off, as seen in ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-OKbo6wrKCk4.html
