If it was me I’d would have got the mls gasket too. The oem gasket was a steel with carbon layer and notorious for being bad. But the mls gasket fixes the issue.
There's a trick to sliding the heads on. Take both the nuts off the bottom mounts pick up the engine with a jack slide engine over (whatever side you need room) hold with a strap slide head on repeat for other side. I've seen those eBay gaskets eventually fail to many times. I use either six star or Felpro.
Thanks for the advice I usually stick to Fel-Pro gaskets as well but this one is kind of on a budget already really high price we'll keep the mount trick in mind will make future jobs easier thanks
Did you oil the head bolts? A question for everyone, how do you keep the oil on the threads from dripping onto the gasket or head/block surface while you're trying to position the head into place? Seems like a lot of balancing to keep all the bolts and gasket in place while trying to position the head onto the block. Thanks!
Yes oil both threads and washers just enough so they are not dripping everywhere and yes definitely does take some practice to get the head into place without touching anything
You don’t always have to resurface the heads. Its smart to do it anyways but you don’t always have to do it on every head gasket job. As long as they aren’t warped and are completely straight.
