*You can change the driver side headlight bulbs without pulling the bumper cover and headlight assembly.* You just have to swear a lot at the frustrating spring lever mechanism and have a really good pair of pliers. Pull the cover off your fuses just to get a little more room.
This was great! Very detailed. I think I will need a bit of help on this. An exploded diagram would be extremely helpful to keep track of the screw placement.
Thanks - that was helpful. Luckily it was my right headlight and I didn't have to remove the whole bumper, but now I'll know when/if I need to replace the other side.
Thanks for the upload. I could have used this video a year ago. My right headlamp was out on my 07 Mazdaspeed 3 and I needed to remove the bumper. It turned out I needed a ballast replaced and not the HID bulb itself.
I know this comment is 3 years old so this reply is not neccesarily intended for the original poster; it's mainly for anyone like me who is just googling how to do this. This comment above is a decent reason why it may be a good idea (when replacing bulbs), to consider just upgrading/swapping out the entire HID set for a new set, with brand new ballasts, harnesses and such. You can even change the color temperature if you wish.
Did you happen to have the clips in the middle of the bumper like it shows on this video? Can't seem to find out how to remove after getting all the clips and bolts off!
You don't have to remove the bumper on the 2006 mazda 3's to replace a headlight bulb on either side. I would know because i just replaced both the high beam and low beam without having to remove anything but the battery cover.
We were replacing the entire unit in this video. However it is not always necessary to remove the entire housing if you are doing the bulb only. Thank you for watching! 1aauto.com 888-844-3393
If you have the factory Xenon/HiD headlights, it's impossible to access the bulb for the low beam from under the hood on the passanger side. With the regular halogen headlights, it looks like there is more room. @1A Auto Parts. Thanks for the video! I was stymied and could not figure out how the bulb could possibly be replaced.
It may be a different procedure. We currently do not have an auto repair video with this particular repair. You may be able to reach around the back of the headlight to remove the headlight bulb. 1aauto.com 888-844-3393
