Great video! Be aware that on newer models do not use a putty knife to open the top front of the machine. There are two screws located on the left and right front top of the washer. These screws are covered by plastic caps that must be removed for access.
thanks for the very easy to follow instructions! Took less than 20 minutes! $75.00 shipped to my door for the four rods, cheaper than a house call from a repair shop!
There is a sticky residue on the lower end of the rods. This is all that needs to be replaced. The metal springs are fine. This sticky residue turns the spring rods into shock absorbers. Too many people think it is a lubricant or they remove this stuff and apply grease. You will only make things worse. Appliance companies are making a killing selling these spring kits when all we need is more of that sticky/tacky substance.
Should you clean off the residue on the brackets before putting the new rod into place? I didn’t notice you mention anything about it. I wasn’t sure if there is a reason you left the old (I’m assuming it’s lube?) residue behind? Or is it okay if I clean that off while I’m in there?
model wt4970cw does not come apart with the putty knife. you have to take the screws out of the top base on the back side pick up slightly from the back slide forward about 1/2 inch and the top will come off. other than that it was just as the video!
OMG these fix it videos are so freakin' annoying. Too much bla bla bla. Don't forget the stupid little wire ring that falls out into the box without you knowing until you've installed them all. It fits into the top.
