How to replace motorcycle coolant/antifreeze. Should be done every 2 years on most motorcycles. Check your owners manual for intervals. Performed on 2nd gen Hayabusa but procedure is similar for other motorcycles.

You forgot to empty the expansion tank mate. It can be drained by releasing the tube at the bottom of the tank. Also can be different formulas of coolant that do not like to be mixed so you should rinse out the system with De-ionised water (battery top up water) a few times (running the bike with just the water in) to get all of the old coolant out. As for different types of coolant, you can get propylene glycol and ethylene glycol. Propylene glycol is used mainly due to it being non toxic but ethylene glycol which is slightly better for heat transfer (recommended by Suzuki but not a big deal) is used for high stress situations or when maximum cooling is required say in hotter climates. Both are good for street use but they should not be mixed. You use one or the other. I used propylene glycol in mine and the coolant needle stays in the middle of the gauge although I do not do much stop start riding in busy areas. I'm always on open roads. If you live in a hotter climate and do a lot of city riding with stop start / slow speed city stuff the bike may get really hot. There is a mod out there that allows you to switch on your radiator fans manually to keep things cool while in this environment, while retaining normal thermostat control when not selected. Your coolant looked pretty good. Mine was in 9 years due to bike being unused by previous owner and it was full of a chalky substance, probably corrosion. That's why it's so important to change it regularly to retain the anti corrosion properties of the coolant. I could imagine that clogging up the radiator badly if ran like like that. Also, pinch your pipework to displace any trapped air. AND, rock bike backwards and forwards while running as well as side to side. Don't forget to put a little coolant in the expansion tank. BTW massive kudos for putting these vids up, we can save a few coins doing stuff ourselves with the help of the Hayabusa community!

Yes, I could have emptied the reservoir too, I should have mentioned that in the video. I got this bike brand new and like you mentioned others don't change it for years 😅

Seems like the hardest part is always removing the panels w/out damage. I bet you got the Kawi.. good choice if so but don't give away the reveal! 👍

Yup, the plastics is always the hardest part 😅 Can't wait for the reveal next week! 😉😉

The thing to remember about removing the panels is DO NOT RUSH IT. Just be firm but gentle! Sides out first then lift up to get the top one which is vertical mount. Also, for next time put a little lube in the rubber grommets on the frame so the fairing barbs pop in and out easier making it less stressful on the panels. I used Vaseline which is a petroleum jelly that does not harm the rubber.

@@royevans4581 Totally agree, no rush with the fairings 🙌 and yes with the lube, I think I might have mentioned that in older vids
