Very successful timing belt,water pump and tensioner change today, can’t thank you enough for the excellent tutorial which steered me through each phase. Just brilliant. One thing I would mention for others anticipating doing this job themselves, beware when eliminating any coolant air locks, the brass bleed screw on the right hand side of the engine will not tolerate being over tightened somewhat fragile as I found out lol but managed to fit a replacement for £2.50 so in all a very successful day. Thanks.

Great video. I'm off now to to replace mine, i don't think i would even attempt it without watching this tutorial. Very easy to understand and after watching a few other videos i knew it wasn't as hard a they made it out to be. This is straight to the point. Hopefully i can report back a success. Thanks Marty.

@@Martysworkshop Hi Marty, well i followed your step by step guide and it worked out a treat. The only down side was the new timing belt was a different length and the new tensioner had a different size (larger) spindle hole. As it was my water pump that was broken i changed that without a hitch. The belt i took off was fairly new anyway and looked in great nick so i just put it back on. My only worry is that i had to put the old tensioner back on as well. I know it's not standard practice but it got me out of a hole. So a big thanks from me, It was a superb, accurate tutorial. 👍

Great vid, well explained. Fairly simple do to timing belt wise and your walk through would be great for anyone attempting this for the first time but I hate doing the waterpump because of that top waterpump bolt. Had a couple snap on me LOL whereby I have had to take the waterpump housing off and drill the bolt out and put a helicoil in. With the waterpump housing off, you can see that the threads for that top bolt go straight through the housing so the bolt can rust in from the other side.

Hello so if it is the same 8 valve engine as in this video the replacement interval is every 80,000 miles or 10 years, Witch ever comes first. So 2007 would have been due in 2017, as for cost it depends on the details of the car but the book time on a 206 is 1.6 hours so it depends on the labour rate of the garage.

Is it a simular engine to this video? Easiest way to check would be to call your local motor factors and give them the registration of your vehicle and that could tell you accurately.

are there mark on both the crank shaft and camshaft to mark up the timing of the engine? ive had my timing belt snap and looking to sort this myself, I know im going to have to strip the head down to check the valves n stuff but my only issue is the timing on the engine when I put it all back together? thanks

The cam is a hole that you line up with a hole in the cam gear, but the crank is a hole behind the oil filter housing that locks in the flywheel. Hope this helps

Hi, just one question? Should piston one be TDC? What if you brake a cambelt, 😐no tippex. Of the thousands of videos on RU-vid. Not one person mention the crank position. There is a reason why people look up tutorial videos.
@Martysworkshop
@Martysworkshop Год назад
So every engine has a way to lock the crank and cam to time engine but the tools can be expensive so this is a way to do it without locking the engine up, hope this helps.

@@Martysworkshop Well I thought wrong. when giving the crank the turns before turning on the car... Sometimes the tensioner would go down... as if it wasnt working properly.... turns out... automatic tensioner do that.
