This is a pretty in depth service of the rear Brake caliper. The process is very similar for the front brakes. I will make a video going into detail about that shortly. If you have any question feel free to comment below or message me on my Instagram. instagram.com/motorcyclemecha/

I've often found that people who are really good at what they do lack the ability to convey that knowledge to others. You, on the other hand, seem to be a born teacher. You may not realize it yet, but now you must become a big time RU-vidr, because we need you.

Thank you for this, Mike! Please create a similar one for front brakes when you get a chance. Specifically interested in front brake's floating rotor's seized bobbins' cleanup and whether those seized up bobbins can cause pulsating breaking experience at low speeds(mine does while breaking under 15 mph, and no noticeable pulsing when breaking at higher speeds). Thank you!

I just filmed a front brake pad video last week. I'll be editing it soon. As for the seized up pins, that shouldn't have anything to do with pulsating. That us usually caused by warped or bent rotor. But can also be caused by brake pad build up on the rotors. Rotors need to be scuffed up with some coarse sand paper once in a while.

Hi Mike , the idea of doing "minor "repairs is appealing. I have this fear though that I won't remember what goes where when putting things back together again 😕

how often should the caliper, rotor, and pads be changed? i just did my 10k service and the dealer says the rear brakes are worn and i don't have brakes so they wouldn't let me leave with my bike. i've been upsold almost 2k for everything and it sucks that i didn't know better. any input helps

Great job, Mike! But shouldn't there be put any grease on the piston after cleaning it, just to maintain the function of the sealing?
@motomecha530
@motomecha530 Год назад
I suppose you could, I haven't. The outer seal is a dust seal, so it might not actually get to the fluid seal. Plus you don't want any of that lube to get on the braking surfaces...

Once you're done with using the brake clean spray, you can remove the latex gloves and have a lot better dexterity. Grease isn't going to hurt your finger's.
