Did you happen to change out the rear springs as well? Your video is actual real world video that will probably happen to you if you live in a rust belt area that uses road salt in the winter. I live in an area like that. Oh the joys of working on rusted vehicles. It makes me feel better that its just not me that runs into these problems. Thanks for this video.

I did not change out the springs. I am sure if I would have let the side down that I was working on, just a little lower, the spring would fall out!

I need to use a torch more. Most people have at least a small one for plumbing and can always by the yellow bottle with Map gas for a bit more heat. Not expensive. Thanks Mark! Great first name by the way!

My worry is the holes you drilled. Did you treat them with an anti corrosive?

I did use NAPA shocks this time and saved the receipt. Lifetime warranty and we probably will own this van another 10 years.

A power ratchet would of work a little faster. Harvard Fraite got so pretty decent electric on lol

Yes! I have air and electric tools but trying to show those average folks with basic hand tools it usually can be done. The new battery operated ratchets and such work very well and as you point out, don’t cost that much!

Be careful using bolts from hardware stores. Most of their bolt strength is only an 8.5.. the bolt strength on the Dodge caravans are 10.9

So true! All bolts are NOT created equal. Got mine from a welding shop.

Be careful on the hardware bolts. They're only 8.5 on a strength. Dodge caravans bolts for the shocks an upper control arms are 10.9

Your right! Hardware bolts are not the same strength as those from a parts store or tractor supply. I bought mine at a wielding shop.
