I have a 2011 tundra platinum and I am just three months out of the extended warranty. It costed me $2000 to get the pumps, inlet, and the valves replaced. Thanks to Toyota.
Toyota is NOT the only manufacture that uses air pumps. In order to meet EPA smog standards. Smog pumps have been used on Fords, Dodge and GM products for decades. After replacing the pump with either a Toyota new pump or a Cardone rebuilt pump., it would be a good idea to drill a hole at the bottom of that inlet pipe to allow any water to drain out BEFORE it reaches the blower motor. Some Tundra owners have rerouted that hose or replaced that hose and adapted other hoses to avoid the new pump from being damaged with moisture. Make sure you order new clips for your inner fender well from Toyota to ensure that shield is there to protect the pump in the future.
Awesome stuff bruh!!! My neighbor who is up in age asked if I could help him out and change he's out for him to pass inspection. Thanks for the video brother!
Looks like the same set up on the 5.7. I pressured sprayed that driver side wheel well and noticed afterwards a code p2441. Probably shot water up into it. I’ve been running fine with that code for a year.
Thanks for this! I was thinking my transmission was going bad but when my check engine light came on the OBD scan said P2445. Ordered the part for next day air delivery tomorrow and will be using this tutorial!
I did that already and realized after that it was still good and just needed to replace the air injection check valve . Even though they tell you to replace both you really don’t need to . Great video anyway.
Awesomely done again. Your right, I didn't know S$%T! Only that I have a @2,541.39 quote to do both side secondary valves and air pumps. With this video I see why you SHOULD do both side and BOTH Air Pumps. If they have water.. they'll probably work their way back up to the Secondary Valves.
Thank you for the video! Having to take care of my 2008 Toyota tundra and replace the same part not even 4 years ago for the 1st time. Now here it is 4 yrs later and having to replace it again. Great video repair! 🎉
You have the best video and explanation of how to replace a new Pump on this Tundra vehicle. I don't know where you live but If you ever come by in the Pacific area, I will pay for your hotel. thanks a lot
My 2001 Toyota Tundra v8 just started having a humming sound by the Engine when I accelerate. Im thinking its the secondary air pump. Did yours have that symptom too?
Good vid and helpful. You menttioned it and I saw another vid doing it...drilling a whole in that black bell housing to let the water drain... But A) what does drilling a hole do that it shouldn't? Like, I'm assuming the housing is there a for a reason. Dirt crud getting into a bad thing? B) what else can be done to keep water from collecting? You mentioned flipping the hose upside down but that hose looks form fitting and so I dont' understand what flipping it up would do? Cheers
That hose is form fitted, so flipping it would make it go the other way. It would take some maneuvering to get it right. The pump is supposed to only suck air, but because of the location, it sucks up water as well. Drilling a hole may help drain some of the water. On the newer models, they have fixed the hose design to where it helps with the water suction. These older models just have poor design.
hey man did you have any loss of power when driving? almost like the engine would rev up but transmission wouldn't switch gears? I have the p2447 code so I'm hoping this pump is the issue
Great video.. thank you so much.. made it clear, showed good shots...some guy had a video with just punk music and not clear video of where he was working, doing, your were great, I think I can do this with a little help Thank you Thank you
Do you know where the pump is for bank 1? This is the bank 2 one. The second one was in the same location and it's extremely difficult finding info on the other one. Thx and great video.
What year is yours because, I think mines comes with 2? I have a 2007 tundra . And YES! They wanna charge $3200 for the replacement parts included, LOL!!!! I’m looking Amazon & eBay for the parts
I’m breathing heavy too and I ain’t saved almost three grand yet. But really, thanks man. Did you have to clear the codes and the dash, or did it clear on its own?
This vehicle has 2-Air injector pumps. And 2-switching valves. Bank #2 is the easy one to change. That much water probably the switching valve will go next. Bank #1 You have to pull the intake off to change.
There's always the Hewitt-Tech bypass kit if you're in a state that does not have emissions testing. Why of course you then can't drive the vehicle on the road cuz that's illegal. 😑
I have a question... Im having this problem and replaced this pump and still having the same code has anyone here had this happen to them kinda lost at what to do next?
@@Grizzel after doing more research i found there is one more under the freakin intake smh... now im wodering if its the same part number as the one under the fender
