Absolutely love 1a auto vids, this guy is great too. The FJ is a breeze to work on compared to most vehicles and I actually did my alternator and belt together and was able to sneak everything through the top with no issues, no need to even bother going underneath. Plenty of belt diagrams online too to help with re-routing the new one correctly. Thanks for all the great videos

Changed the Serpentine Belt from the Top. (EZ Pit Zee.) I also replaced the Fan Clutch along with the Fan about 10 days ago. 😎👍

@@bowyerdude I did this on my 2007 FJ Cruiser about 2 weeks ago and I can now confirm that you can do this from the top. I didn't have to remove anything or jack the vehicle up. I just wiggled the belt off while taking tension off of the belt and then wiggled the new one on and got it all fitted back on.

You should change it when you change the alternator. The battery and the alternator coming off making this a lot easier.

What if a mechanic install the wrong size of belt? The belt installed is 7 ribs 21.2 x 6 x 0.9 inch and the recommended size is 7 ribs 20.9 x 0.9 x 0.9, reason asking is my engine had this noise comes out after new installation of the belt. I went to the brand website and found out that the belt installed is for a different year of the same vehicle. I just need help as the noise is come and go and the mechanic wanted me to try to replace a $600 worth cost of tensioner but not sure about the noise cause. Thanks

This was, by far, THE most ridiculous belt/pulley/tensioner job I've EVER done! Hands down. Toyota should be ashamed of themselves for this design. I would NEVER own a 4Runner or FJ Cruiser just because of this nonsense. No amount of money could get me to do one of these jobs ever again. I'm 60 years old and Iv'e been a mechanic my whole life in one form or another. Whatever Toyota is getting for this job...It's not enough.
