Do you use Slack and ClickUP? Why or why not? For us, we've decided to go all-in on ClickUp for internal use...but I still love Slack for communities/forums!
This was so timely for me, Layla! I've never been a Slack user for my business and was wondering if using ClickUp chat functions exclusively was a reasonable option--you've shown me it is!
I've just started building this for our internal engineering department. 1:1 chat is the compromise here. Apart from that, I love that it's easy to start topics. My main problem is that people don't use their ClickUp notifications. I walk around the office and I see people with 100s of notifications 😂😂
What chat tool do you use in 2024 for team communcation? clickup, slack, teams ? If you would use gsuite, jira and clickup, what chat tool would you recommend?
Ahh yes, the emojis! If you're a Windows 10+ user, you can access the Emoji keyboard at anytime by pressing "Windows button + ." or "Control+Command+Space" on Mac. Unfortunately, this won't work on a Chromebook or older Windows OS, but you can also find the emoji you like on Emojipedia.com (or similar) and put it into the text field in ClickUp. Very helpful for quick identification!

Thanks Lyla! I actually tried creating a chat section in the dashboard,, but I can't see it in the mobile app. Thus it's useless. 50% of our team members are using mobiles. So... how effective will this be if we will be using this to our mobile phones?
The older mobile app (which is still available for download) does include Dashboards. The new app should have Dashboards available in the future, but you're right that it doesn't currently. Note: The template shown in this video doesn't actually use Dashboards at all. :)
One more question, how does the client interact on their phone. Do they need to download the app (for example a client ) to interact with you. Or is it all done through Gmail. Sorry if this seems basic
If you have your clients in ClickUp, I'd suggest having them download the app vs. reply to email notifications. If you don't want to have clients as Guests in ClickUp at all, then I'd just use emails (sent from ClickUp) so your clients receive the notifications but aren't actually needing to login.
Hey Aaron! Great question! Chat view is added at the List level. Having a centralized location, like a Folder in this example, will have one area for your team to access for all communication. As opposed to having different Chat views throughout the Workspace. Also, if multiple people have access to the List with the Chat view, it wouldn't be possible to have direct messaging with one person. I hope this helps!

Yup! Statuses are used for those types of general categories (like Active / Inactive) but Closed tasks are usually still visible since statuses don't really matter as much. :)

Hey! Do you mean in the title of the list and are you referring to emojis? You'll Click the edit pencil to add to the title and then use the emoji keyboard on your device! I hope this helps :)
Do hashtags do anything in ClickUp? I noticed the channels are named with a hash and wondering if that was just because it's modeled on Slack or if it provides some other functionality?
How exactly are people notified when there is a new message in a channel there are in if they are not mentioned specifically? We use Slack which has a pop up on the screen when a new comment has been posted - does clickup have something similar? Also, theres a blue dot on the slack icon for a message not directed at you, and a red dot if there is something specifically for you which is helpful - again does clickup have anything like this? Hey Claire! Just getting caught up on comments🙈 These are all great questions! As a watcher in a task you'll receive a notification when a new comment is added even if you are not assigned. Though, there is no pop-up like slack, the notification is posted on your "notifications"sidebar. A way to identy a comment directly for a person would be to @mention them by using this symbol @ followed by their name. But, to clarify this will not generate a different notification from the previous option. I hope this helps!
