How to replace start & stop battery - Volvo v40 cros country

In this video I will show you how to replace START/STOP BATTERY in this VOLVO v40 cross country manufacture year 2014. You will find out where is located and how to get to it.
VOLVO Cars with the Start/Stop function are equipped with a support battery in addition to the starter battery. When replacing the support battery, a battery of AGM type must be fitted.
OEM BATTERY parameters: 12v, 10Ah, 180A (EN)
!! Before you replace your battery, test with battery tester to check if it’s really
faulty, or bring it to your local battery shop to test it for you!!

One of the best guide videos I've seen in terms of length, explanations etc. Easiest decision to subscribe all day! No idea why 8 people have disliked - this is literally perfect for replacing this battery.

This is such insane incredibly bad engineering by Volvo. Having to remove a bumper to replace a battery. Whoever designed that, should be fired.

Need your help with a 2014 volvo t4....it's not starting ,,, dash board only lights up but car not turning over. Someone hit my car I take it to the garage when they finish working on it. It doesn't start anymore

What a crappy place to put a battery. I’m suspecting mine is giving up, not because the start/stop is now working but because all of a sudden the city safety and park assist need service. No idea if the secondary battery has ever been replaced. Is there a way to assess the capacity of the battery without disassembling the whole thing ?

This is insane.. So much work to remove battery! On previous car I did it my self, just open hood & 2-3 screws.. dear God. I have Volvo V40 T3 2018 (gas, has start stop). Anyone knows if it also has same configuration (2 bateries, etc)

Hi , my v40 shows low battery warning yet I jump start it, and it dies off after cranking for a few secs . When it starts it takes a lot of r.p.m. to keep going but if you leave the accelerator it dies. Kindly help !

Hi there, Unfortunately it's impossible, you have to take out the front bumper. regards ;)

Does an S40 2010 1.6d with start stop have the battery in the same location please? Am I correct in thinking the main battery is not AGM? Just the 2nd battery?

Hi there. If it's 1.6 d2 engine then it suposted be located in same place. About main battery: I'm not sure with your car, but in newer models Volvo recommends a battery type EFB or stronger must be installed, but not AGM

Hello I have a problem with my volvo s60 start stop system. Since I changed the battery in December last year start stop doesn't work anymore and sometimes car won't start. What would you advise me?

its most likely your back up battery thats hidden under your front wind screen on the left i think you need to remove your windscreen wipers

Is this the same or similar on a v70 2011? I’m getting a low battery message and start stop is not working. I think agm support battery is not charged but I don’t know where to look

Hi there. I'm not sure if your car has a second battery. V70 model year 2015 has got second battery under wiper cowl cover Regards

Normally video's tell you all kinds of thing you don't want to know, makes you go crazy if you want to know the procedure. This channel is the first I have ever seen with all information you need without watching 20 minutes of bullsh... What diagnostic unit are you using? I want something newer then old delphi. Great video but i still have the following question. The battery you used is like the factory necessary; Because I recently replaced an 8AH AGM factory battery in my own VOLVO V40 D2 with a commercial one 8AH AGM --but lighter-- than OEMS and my START STOP system does not work. I thought that replacing the OEM AGM 8AH battery with a similar type 8AH AGM for motorcycles (YTX9-BS YUASA) i d had no problems. I wonder if you know the answer. Thanks

Is that a motorcycle battery ? The one you used. yt14b-bs, it the same battery my Honda Cb190 has. The car manual says 12v 10ah 180CCA .. and that battery is 12v 12ah 210CCA ... no problems ?

This battery location is just rediculous... I am curious tho. Would a weak MAIN battery (doesnt hold charge well) cause the secondary battery to lose charge as well? My start stop sometimes works. Sometimes doesn't. Did a voltage test of the main battery in engine and saw that it does not hold voltage. So that has to he changed. Just curious, if i change the big battery, would that maybe fix the start stop issue?

Could very well be your main battery, it was on my V40. It just required a nice slow trickle charge over the weekend and then reset the BMS, which you can find how to do on RU-vid., its easy peasy .

Witam, biuletyn Volvo podaje ze ich samochody wyposażone w SYSTEM START STOP posiadają dodatkową bateria 12V. Bez znaczenia czy jest to automat czy manual. Główne kryterium to system start stop Pozdrawiam :)

Cars Guide DIY Dziekuje. Informacje nt. Skrzyni automatycznej podałem nie bez powodu: otóż w intencji napisane jest, ze akumulator główna Agb stosuje się. Przypadku automatycznej Skrzyni ;)
