Only one problem... The air flow is down, not up. Toyota OEM filters tell you which side of the filter goes up. The arrows pointing "up" in the Toyota do not indicate air flow. They just tell you which side of all the various parts should be up.bNo where on any of those Toyota parts will you find the words "air flow". You can figure this out for yourself easily. Which side of the old filter was the dirty side? If the air flows up and the blower is below the filter wouldn't the blower be clogged with dirt and leaves and wouldn't that dirt and leaves be trapped below the filter? If you remove the filter and hold a piece of string or tissue paper in it's pkace with the blower on which way does it blow? Real easy you say? Maybe not so easy for some folks?
You can't assume that your old cabin air filter was put in correctly and simply copy it. Air flow is NOT going up. Air flow is down. If you put the filter in with the air flow arrow pointing up then it's upside down. The ONLY time an arrow on a cabin air filter should point up is if it says "up" next to the arrow. All horizontally mounted cabin air filters with the blower motor mounted below the filter have downward air flow. Otherwise the blower motor would be full of dirt and debris. If it doesn't say up next to the arrow then the arrow indicates air flow direction and should point down. Another simple way to determine this is noticing how the dirt accumulates on top of the old filter which proves that dirty unfiltered air enters the topside of the filter and flows downward. Still not sure? Then remove the filter and turn on the blower. Then put your hand where the filter goes. Does it feel like it's blowing upward? Use a piece of string or tissue paper. They will be sucked downward. All the Toyota parts that say up on them have nothing to do with air flow. They are simply telling us which side goes up. So if your filter says "up" next to the arrow then of course it should point up. If it doesn't say anything next to the arrow (like on a WIX branded filter) then by default an arrow on an air filter indicates air flow direction. I've already emailed WIX to confirm this to be true.
I have 2002 Corolla, and the glove box is the same as this one. I have watched the video several times but cannot remove the box as easily as you do. Any additional tips you can provide on the glove box removal? It looks like you are just pressing it in on the sides, but no matter what I do, I cannot remove mine. (Time mark 1:12 in the video).
