Awesome tutorial! Although my filter hood had 6 screws (2 each on three sides). Found a couple of them - the tightest ones, naturally - weren’t even in all the way from whatever dealer yahoo did it last time. More proof of “If you want done right, do it yourself!” And although I’m no mechanic, thanks to your video, I did!
You can actually do it without remove the intake tube, but it is best to just go ahead and take it off so you can vacuum any debris out the bottom of the air box.
The air snorkel is ribbed and collapsible like an accordion for a reason. I find you don't need to completely remove the snorkel or throttle body cover.
I have a 2009 all i did was "loosen" the clamp on the "air snorkel ? "Removed the electric connector then removed the 6 torx 20 screws took the old air filter out threw it away put the new one in reversed the process and DONE 👍
Hi Jim, very valuable information indeed. Thanks for sharing. Out of this topic, the engine alert light on my chevy traverse 2012 suddenly is going ON then after 1 day goes OFF again by itself, then it will repeat the cycle two or three times in a week. Is this related to a potential engine failure , or like I have heard from some people owning the same car that is something related to a damaged connector which reads gas emissions or something like that. Any advise on this before I take the car to the workshop and maybe get scared by the mechanic and ending-up paying big bucks ? Thanks
jimthecarguy I don't think so. I changed the filter and now it is a low sound like there's a hole in the muffler. I went back to Advance Auto to make sure I had the correct filter which I do. When driving, there is hesitation with the noise and it seems like the motor isn't getting enough air. I'm taking it to the shop and I'll keep you posted.
