Your video on how to change the battery for my Buick Enclave was so perfectly detailed I had the courage to do it myself. Bought the battery from Costco and since they don't install them, I did it myself thanks to your terrific instructional video. Not bad for a 60 year old woman. My husband was shocked. LOL. Thanks so much.

So in the over 100 years of car manufacturing, some engineer decided they were all wrong and it would be a brilliant idea to hide the battery with as much difficulty as possible. Now some poor family is stuck on the side of the road in the middle of the night with no clue as to what to do next....

Ken Moses when I was younger I lived in a condo. One of the building owners had a 1999? Chevy Malibu. The battery was located underneath a welded cross member under the hood, left front corner. I remember the battery died in her car and she could not get it out. GM build quality and engineering at its finest.

My Beemers all have it in the trunk, behind the right rear wheel for (50/50) weight distribution (back past 94) and to keep the center of gravity low. Same position for my Cadillac CTS. Same theory with the Lambda chassis.

@@virgilgarner2681 My enclave is a dream car. Except the 'battery in a hole' thing. Whoever thought that putting a car battery in the passenger compartment, under the carpet and rear seat rails, and under the front passenger seat screwed in with a type of tool almost no average drivers carry around with them with the battery bolted down, (at the bottom of the battery hole barely large enough to hold said battery) with a bolt also needing a tool most average drivers do not carry around daily) with a clamp that'll sometimes still firmly hold the battery in place even when unbolted, no handle on the battery (in my case), and (this video forgot to mention) the carpet edges actually get in the way when lifting the battery out (I had to trim mine. Thankfully the damage is covered by the battery cover covers....or something. and topped off with the fact that the battery hole is edged by thin sharp metal that will likely scrape the living dickens out of your hands pulling it out. Love my Enclave. ^^^^^^^Except ^^^^^^^^

Thank you very much for this video. It's very detailed (including what socket sizes to use and the order of disconnecting the terminals, the exhaust hose, etc.). Additionally, the natural lighting made it very easy to see what you're doing. I especially like the tip of using vice grips to pull out the old battery. I tried it, and it worked like a charm.

I replaced my battery today, went smoothly. I had a problem getting the grey ground lead apart, but a light twist with a screwdriver did the trick. I didn't have two vice-grips, but I put some double-sided tape on each side of the battery, and had no problem pulling the battery out. Thanks!

Thank you! This was great! I was able to use some rubber-coated work gloves to grab the battery from the sides and lift it out without using the vise grips. I think I would also add that you should always wear eye protection when doing this in case the battery somehow shorts and explodes. It's important to make sure the battery terminals never get shorted by a loose tool or something. Excellent video!

Unlike other tutorials, THIS VIDEO correctly shows how the hold-down block is oriented. 4:31 -- which is important because when it's inserted WRONG, it actually still "fits" (but just doesn't function as well). At first when I had it upside-down or backwards or however it was, I thought to myself "well, can't imagine why it's like this, but maybe the battery is SUPPOSED to be loose enough to slightly shift and slide around a little bit?" -- NO!! When it's correctly set, the battery is snug and DOES NOT MOVE at all.

Thanks for this great instructional video. I am a 71 year old male and have changed plenty of batteries in my lifetime. I had no idea where this battery was. It is unbelievable to me that Chevrolet would put a battery with acid inside the vehicle. if you failed to replace the vent covers you could have a serious problem from acid fumes. . If you have ever had a battery explode in your face as I have you would know how badly placed this battery is. Also, to not have a handle on the battery to remove it from the terrible place that it was put in is unforgivable.
