How to Replace the Air Filter on a MG3 (Coil Pack & Spark Plug Maintenance Access)

Hi Blair, how did you manage that? the coil packs will come out using the 8 or 10mm bolts on top and removing the connections, they then just pull out and expose the spark plugs. If there is water around the spark plugs do not remove them until dry, it could just be a short between the spark and the coil pack. if dry I would then remove all 4 of them and check to see if water has made it into each cylinder. Have you checked the oil to see if it is milky? If water has sat in the cylinders it is likely to have made it around the rings and is also sat below the pistons. You could slowly turn the crank by the pully and a socket with all 4 plugs out.

Hi there Tom, I haven't changed one on these yet however I would imagine it is downstream of the air filter outlet pipe where it disappears down the back of the engine seen at 3mins 15 on the video. Sorry I can't be of more help. Ross

Hi Leigh, no that doesn't sound right at all, especially if it was not there before. Have you checked to make sure the airbox has sealed properly?

Hi Faddy, Does it not work at all? have you checked the AC pollen filter behind the glovebox? It depends on the country you are in, in some countries you can get the re-gassing kits, which are fairly simple to use.

@@RossPerryProductions i checked the filter and it is dirty but I tried using the ac without it to test and still no cold air. Could be a simple re gas or a fuse? Or the compressor? Do you know where that is located?

The dealer I go to want £425 for a first service all they do is basically do a oil and filter change judging by the service schedule ,- just thought I would let people know

The most important thing in a first service is to do the oil and oil filter change as there will be small pieces of metal left over from manufacturing. Just a side note they will more than likely just check and clean the air filter and pollen filter and not replace them in a first service.
