Advice from my experience, if your phone is old, you're going to be working with rly weak adhesive strips. u have to constantly be gripping for a lower part of adhesive during every pull, otherwise it will rip. If it rips u have to pry the battery a tad to reach under with a tiny poking tool to wrap itself in the adhesive to pull out & get a piece so u can continue pulling it. It seemed impossible to get this battery out without pulling out the adhesive. I was gently prying all around for an hour before I saw the opportunity to reach under & regain a grip on the adhesive.
Great video, thanks. I was able to save time by not removing the upper display screen assembly by tying a string to the suction cup and holding it up hinged (must be careful). Also must be patient pulling out adhesive strips, they are rubbery and break easy, but worth the effort to not break, because if they do, you need to use a credit card under battery to loosen adhesive, which is more difficult. You can wind the stringy adhesive around your finger. Also putting the touch id wire metal bracket back on is tricky.
Try heating the phone over a light bulb for a few minutes to remove the battery. (I used a 25 watt fluorescent lamp so it would not be too hot). It softens the adhesive strip and I was able to pry out the already disconnected battery gently, as to not rupture the charged battery and create any other issues. Start at a corner with a letter opener or screwdriver, PATIENCE is key in letting the adhesive tear itself with gentle to moderate pressure, moving the screwdriver/letter opener all around being careful of course. I had it out in less than 4 minutes. Easy peasy.
I used small Velcro stickers to attach the display to an anchor at 90 degrees. I think I’d have failed to take out and replace those four tiny screws had I not done that. It saved time and sweat! Otherwise, I think this video is very useful indeed.
IMPORTANT WARNING: before proceeding to connect the battery, FIRST connect the screen. You risk frying up the phone if there is still power going through the phone.
After watching the video it looks like it was removed and replaced the same way. Removing at 2:09 it slows down to the left and up to the right and it's the same at 3:37 when reinstalling. However if there is indeed something missing, if possible please reference the start and end points noting what is being seen or missing, as this helps us to create a better experience for all customers.
