Cool. I have a 2006 Matrix with 200k that I recently replaced starter on. If you pull the fan shroud the starter is right there and you can do the whole thing topside.
YOU FORGOT SOMETHING very important......Please pin this comment. THE HOUSEING CONTAINS THE FUEL FILTER.....YOU DID NOT REPLACE IT.....no not the pickup screen. Inside that plastic thing is the fuel filter. Should be replaced with every pump or it may fail because of extra strain on the pump.
@@jacquelynsmith1753 I would get the whole unit. they are available like that. there is a after market one that is not that expensive that does work ok. Maybe not Denso but they do work good. I got one on ebay or amazon. with some sort of name brand works great. and fixed my problem.
awesome, im stranded right now and im thinking its my fuel pump. my matrix started up no problem 20 seconds into idling she shut off. i have crank but no start. how can i check if its a fuel pump relay or fuel pump. My efi fuse is ok!
put the updated Corolla/Matrix blue injectors used in 07 & 08. Much better than the green ones which were prone to cracking and failing. Best injectors for a 1zz & what I run on the celica.
@@2zzlow so how much better are the blue injectors compared to the green ones? I’ve heard similar thing on the celica forums but not much in specific on how better wise, hope answered with knowledge and inoffensive information
The 03 vibe gt is this exactly. Only difference is I live in the midwest and the bolts are powder gotta wait on a new retaining ring before I swap the tank.

The car would have a hard time staying on, would sputter and eventually die. Checked for spark and that was good, obviously air was not an issue so I turned to fuel being my issue
That’s not a 2005 matrix !! My 2005 matrix has a big black cover with 4 screws holding it and it not the grey cover in you video . Im assuming that the big black cover is covering the pump . I’ll find out shortly
I have a Toyota matrix 2009 1.8L I looked up the fuel pump on AutoZone but none of the new ones have the the little bag. Would it be okay to just buy the whole fuel pump without the bag maybe because my matrix doesn't need it ?
what year is your dad's matrix? I ordered a denso fuel pump from rock auto for my 2007 matrix and the one I got looks different. I think I may have received the pump for a vibe.

I put a video up on this channel with replacing the filter. it is probably like yours. with the ring......I also replaced the filter which is critical to the job. He overlooked that the filter is part of that housing.
The wiper motor? Or the pump that pushes weather fluid? If the pump…it’s in the bottom of the washer reservoir. You pretty much have to remove the bumper for access. But then it just unplugs from the reservoir.
@@2zzlow I think you were doing it right. There are tabs on it for a reason. It's just that for whatever reason it didn't work for me so i pryed it out. Wasn't very hard to pry out. I could see if was making progress as there was a window like opening on each side.
Thanks I ended up doing this.. Only used one small flat head screw driver, slide the screwdriver underneath the squeeze-tabs on the end of the hose and pushed the tabs out. After doing each individually, I was able to use the squeeze tabs to pull the hose off. Thanks for the idea.
I've been searching the fuel pump and mine is just like that. I haven't been able to find it . Could you please send me information about the source where you got the replacement? Thanks in advance!😢 My car is a 2003 Toyota Matrix 1.8 lt
You forgot to change the fuel filter. The strainer goes on the bottom of the pump as you did. The filter itself is what the actual pump sits in, and it pumps the fuel through it. Otherwise, nice video.
@@Fb6_Adrian420 lmao I was going to plastic weld it, but I needed a new assembly anyways and got a decent shape one from a junkyard for 80 bucks, plastic fitting included lmao
